  As others have said, the GB carefully ignore the REST of the Lot story! (offering his daughters to be pack raped, then the incest with his daughters)

  Oh, I know another "wholesome" dot-to-dot picture kiddies can draw: The account of the woman who was raped and cut up into pieces and sent all over the nation!? (Judges 19:29)

  something that always drove me crazy was when the jw's would say after the meeting on sunday, "i have to go out this afternoon to get my time in.

  " in the car group after service someone would always ask, "so how much time did we get?".

  it the watchtower company said that turning in time is no longer required because jehovah knows what we are doing to serve him, there would be a tremendous drop in the door to door activity and the coffee cart work.

  They Can't Admit They're Wrong ...

  as 1975 approached, we began to hear the preliminary murmurs of denial from the society rather than any honest admissions or apologies for their dreadful mistake.

  finally, i remember sitting at the watchtower study one sunday listening to the brothers and sisters parroting the information from the study article and innocently taking all of the blame for misinterpreting what the society had said about 1975. it was the first of several occasions when i longed to jump up from my seat, run to the podium, and argue for the apparently forgotten truth.

  instead, i sat there and thought how much the society was like the scribes and pharisees in jesus dayburdening the people with heavy loads that they were not willing to budge with their finger (matthew 23:4).

  no doubt we have all heard that well used "illustration" in public talks etc over the years:.

  "if you were handed a glass of water that looked pure, but were told it has just a tiny drop of poison in it, would you drink it?".

  the society has used that illustration at length to say we should avoid all influences of every part of the world.. but, as we know, the society has had a track record of errors, false ideas and doctrines.

  Prompted by the upcoming 2017 convention video that tries to deny the 1975 fiasco, I have bumped this thread.

  The way the society is trying to re-write history is appalling and manipulative!

  hello all - so me and stuckinarut2 are at the state library proving to ourselves that wt has it all wrong re: 607. i've read at length jwfacts, jwsurvey and crisis of conscience that all go into the subject and i've just downloaded gentile times reconsidered.. while it is fabulous to have someone else compile all the research and evidence for you, it is quite another to see it in print for yourself - and so, here we are.. while we wait for our array of books i couldn't help but share with you how the state library has catalogued jewish history - 586 bc to 70 ad.

  no mention of 607 as a key date as far as the library's catalogue is concerned!!

  evidence before we have our books!!.

  Hi all,

  So my dear Unstuck and I went back to the state library yesterday to continue our personal research into this topic.

  Once again, we found NO REFERENCE anywhere to 607 BC. It simply is not a date that is mentioned by any source.

  All sources quote 586/587.

  So, we can now with honesty say to any witness inquirer that we did not simply take the word of "apostates", but found this pivotal information out for ourselves.

  Be careful about which card you try and remove!

  the belief system of witness has often been well described as a "house of cards"....seemingly stable, yet fragile at the same time.. as we try to awaken our loved ones, we may share certain topics and issues...trying to remove a card or two from the tower of cards.. sometimes in our eagerness, we try and remove some key hot topic...or a card or two at the base of the tower.. that can be very destructive and cause loved ones to act defensive or protective of their beliefs (the society).

  they may dig in their heels.. rather, success comes from carefully and casually removing smaller cards from the top of the tower....then allowing them to even remove them for themselves!.

  as keen as we are to just bulldoze them down, take it slowly and carefully.. show dignity, poise and grace....and patience....
