Talk to my Dad about beards.
by LovingLifeNow inso i spoke to my elder dad the other day, and he asked if i still am sporting a beard.
i said yes, then i said, "i thought the society said its ok to have a neat trimmed beard now?
" he said "no, no, no..if you read the article , it says in countries where it is accepted" so my response was "ummm, its pretty accepted here in america"..which he says "it reflects your spirituality" "if another wittness saw you, they would know you are weak"...i was like, "ok, i don't get it, and i follow christ/god, not men..." then he said in his hall" if a brother came in with a beard , he would not have privelages" then i just gave up, and tried to change the subject..ugggggggggg if these people would just listen to themselves , they would see the sillyness of there teachings...

48% Capacity at Kingdom Halls - A post on reddit
by berrygerry inthere was a letter read this week, followed by a talk about all the changes that are coming in the next couple of months regarding merging congregations in the area (va/md/dc) - the letter said that the kh's in the area are only being filled to 48% capacity.
this was music to my ears as i have noticed the decline in attendance in all the neighboring congregations.
they will sell some kingdom halls and merge some congregations.

There was a thread or two only 3 years back that spoke of the program of rapid hall construction.
Remember the plans that looked like the building could easily be sold off and turned into anything from a fast food joint to a supermarket?
What ever happened to all that "urgent" work?

A sincere and heartfelt Welcome!
Lovely first post.
Yes, you made a great point. If we want to try and wake up our loved ones, the key is to slowly break their witness routine, and replace it with fun activities that highlight the joy of living. And yes, "worldly" people are actually very nice!
We look forward to your company here on the forum!

The fate of all of Jehovah's Witnesses
by Half banana ini have just posted elsewhere that there is no destiny for a jw other than to be deluded or disappointed, perhaps deluded or disillusioned would be a better expression.
there is no such thing as armageddon, no such thing as everlasting life, paradise is a mirage of wish fulfillment.. a friend of mine who is nominally a jw but who does not believe a word of it, told me about the dying words of another friend's father.
this man had been a lifelong stalwart jw and reared an exemplary jw dynasty but as he died he told his super zealous son that it (the jw religion) has got it all wrong.. ok, it's a social club for the majority of witnesses and an identity for those without self worth or clear goals in life, they will swallow the inconsistencies and biblical absurdities because it is in their community interests to conform.

Being a witness simply fills the void in the lives of many. It gives them a sense of purpose and community belonging.
Im sure there are many that harbour doubts secretly about the actual doctrines....

Witnesses have been indoctrinated to believe that if they have questions, the fault lays with them....NEVER with the society....

According to witness culture, Asking questions about doctrine implies a lack of faith, or a lack of spirituality.

How do you talk to a child that believes Jehovah/Armageddon is real
by Anony Mous ini'm having some serious issues with my child, she is now 5 and her mother is teaching her all sorts of things regards god, jehovah is real, in heaven, pray if you're scared, etc.
the problem is the kid is scared of demons at night and also conflicted that i don't believe, she also figured out jehovah doesn't actually help her not to be scared.. i've tried explaining that i'm there for her, watching over at night.
i've tried introducing her to various churches and beliefs so she understands there is a difference in believes and she likes those churches better than kingdom hall.

Don't try and use too much logic.
5 year olds only need to be reassured of your love for them, and the rest will be taken care of as they grow.

Good points Stephane. I take your point.
True, many people DO work too much, and they end up missing out on LIFE itself.

When we think about it, there are MORE Ex-Witnesses worldwide that current witnesses!
The society used to tell us 45,000 a year get DF. Then there are the thousands per year that fade, or stop attending.
So adding that up, it would seem there are more ex-witnesses.
Correct me if I am wrong.

There's JW Date site, JW TV channel App?! What Else is New?!
by QUEENIE2_RIPQUEENIE1 inwell, it has been a long time, i realise...since my mom, linda, aka, " the queen apostate herself... 'queenie' 👑 the orig.
was last logging and posting here and several other jw and exjw related sites... a lot has happened and changed for/with me since mom suddenly passed, summer of 2008. .
still... when i came across (by accident) during a google search for ex jw ministries and healing ministries, a link to a jehovah's witnesses' dating website, no, not ex jw datesite nor on the verge of leaving, but active jws dating site!
