a thought occurred to us today about how christians, including witnesses love to quote some lovely passage of the bible as proof of god's love, or the value of the bible.. but just because a small passage or sentence is quoted doesn't mean the whole book is to be valued.. for instance, there may be a nice sentence or comment expressed in the passage of mein kampf, but would that make the book or it's author worthy of quoting or following?
the entire book and its message needs to taken into consideration!
(obviously that author had genocidal tendencies and disturbing ideas).
Great thoughts and comments.
Thanks!
i know that other early dates are well documented leading up to 1975. it did seemed that the wts learned to stop setting dates, but i seem to recall talk about the 20th century will certainly be the last according to god's perfect timing.
i can't recall specifically where i heard such blatant rhetoric though.. anyone?
bueller?
Exactly what Bungi Bill said.
Originally that 1989 WT said "This work will be completed BEFORE the end of the 20th century"
Then the bound volume changed it to "This work will be completed in 'our day'"

So too with the bible. Although some passages may be inspirational, motivational or seemingly kind and loving, many other passages and parts of the book seem to indicate that the "author" has had a track record of genocidal and violent tendencies...AND such plans for the future too according to witnesses!
Thoughts?
dear friends, we were so touched by your warm welcome and all of your comments to my ballroom dancing post.
thank you so much for your kindness.. i have more to tell you, but i wanted to share this with you.
we have a son that has been disfellowshipped for 18 years for smoking.
Great post!
We look forward to the account of the elders visit!
too much crap to keep track of, but a few low lights of day one of the regional convention stuck out.
in no particular time sequence here is some of what i managed to hold down.. tight pants yapped on in the opening part about a three part theme to conventions.
part 1 was in 2016, part 2 is this year, and part 3 is in the works for 2018. i guess the big a isn't coming for a couple more years, at least.. then it was really stressed that all good dubs must always be prepared to "witness" by carrying jay double you, dot org calling cards, and of course wear your id card for the convention at all times, and all places.. next was the strong statement that the purpose of the carts/trolleys is not to place literature, it is to direct people of the public to "our" web site!
Sounds painful.
Well done for sitting through it.....

just published today on a grieving widow who was sent publications after her husband passed away.. unbelievable!
no respect or honor at all.. your comments and views are welcomed.. d.
Yes, disgusting and opportunistic behaviour.
But what is worse, is the claim by that elder that they don't target such ones! That is an outright lie, as all of us know!!
i'm having some serious issues with my child, she is now 5 and her mother is teaching her all sorts of things regards god, jehovah is real, in heaven, pray if you're scared, etc.
the problem is the kid is scared of demons at night and also conflicted that i don't believe, she also figured out jehovah doesn't actually help her not to be scared.. i've tried explaining that i'm there for her, watching over at night.
i've tried introducing her to various churches and beliefs so she understands there is a difference in believes and she likes those churches better than kingdom hall.
Awww milie210, "monster spray"!
That is so cute!
Love it👍👍😉
activism or any kind of push back really is not about the size of your emotion, your disgust, or the feeling of powerless frustration at the religion.being an ex-jw is about one of two things and two things only:1. being effective.
2. being ineffectiveto which i add: effective at what?1.
not identifying yourself as the foaming at the mouth, demonic, mentally diseased piece of shit the watchtower has framed you out to be in the minds of their captive slaves.2.
Well said Terry!
Excellent thread!
so i spoke to my elder dad the other day, and he asked if i still am sporting a beard.
i said yes, then i said, "i thought the society said its ok to have a neat trimmed beard now?
" he said "no, no, no..if you read the article , it says in countries where it is accepted" so my response was "ummm, its pretty accepted here in america"..which he says "it reflects your spirituality" "if another wittness saw you, they would know you are weak"...i was like, "ok, i don't get it, and i follow christ/god, not men..." then he said in his hall" if a brother came in with a beard , he would not have privelages" then i just gave up, and tried to change the subject..ugggggggggg if these people would just listen to themselves , they would see the sillyness of there teachings...
