Fade or Disassociate?
The results are often the same anyway nowadays. You will be treated like an outcast as the gossip and rumour mill goes into overdrive.
Eventually, all your "friends" will abandon you...
hello to all, so i did want to talk about this topic because i think it is very important to me.
i have a grandfather who faded several decades ago.
he occasionally attends an assembly and the memorial but no longer attends meetings or goes on field service.

this is a mock interview with a fictional character who is a pr rep in an australian comedy/parody of the public service.
the show is called utopia.
this was a pro piece for thew start of the new season.
Love that show!
so today the well-respected and serious newspaper trouw.nl came with child abuse within the jw as their topmost frontpage article.. the articles are well researched and aim primarily at the dutch jw situation.. afaik at least on member of this forum assisted the newspaper with the articles.
.
other media are picking up as well.....
A Dutch friend of mine summed up the article like this:
Well pretty much what it comes down to, that the JW organization is the pinacle for Child Abuse. That elders are playing their own judge. Now the Dutch government started a big time investigation and want to bring these pedophiles to justice.
i've noticed that some elders will insist on getting a special bethel speaker for memorials, special talks, or sometimes for no reason at all!
i believe they are trying build connections they can use later, but who pays for it?
the congregation does and as a former account servant i can tell you airfare isn't all that cheap.
Yes our cong would often scramble to get a bethel speaker in.
Yet they were no more qualified to speak, and were often more boring!
I know too for a fact that the cong gave money "to cover his travel expenses"
as we know, many people have "no junk mail" signs on their home letterboxes.
this clearly means that they do not want unsolicited mail or advertising material.. so how are witnesses getting around this?.
during the campaign to distribute the convention invitations, when they come across a house with "no junk mail", they are just putting the leaflet inside an envelope and hand writing "to the householder" on the front and putting it in the letterbox!.
That's a cool thing to do Jonah! Love it!
for those who now lean toward non-belief in religion or theism or deism, or who identify as atheist, you have to check out all of seth andrews work!he was raised as a fundamentalist christian in the usa, and was a pastor, and christain radio host until he awoke.
he now is an atheist and hosts a great podcast called "the thinking athiest".
you will find great videos on youtube, as well as his weekly podcast:.

He has had some great shows! Here is great one...and can be modified for witnesses too!

Jonahstourguide: Any mail you try to place in the mailbox must be addressed to the person directly and not simply "to the householder"
Wow, I didn't know that! We have a "no junk mail" sticker, and yet often get mail that is just addressed "to the householder" from marketing companies. AND it is delivered by the official Aust Post mailman.... I'll have to look into that.
i was a window cleaner, i was at the time unemployed, homeless.
i had no education to be proud of (high school one a two b's rest c's) i was a jehovahs witness.
i had been a pioneer.
WONDERFUL post!
Thanks for checking in and sharing it with all here.
Keep up the great work, and keep enjoying life!
Much love and respect my friend.
on the radio today, an ad for a car dealership said:.
'if a salesman came to your door to sell you a car, would you buy it from him?
of course not, you'd go online and do your research.'.
Yes! A brilliant illustration.
Yet witnesses, especially born-ins, readily accept the religion handed down from their parents....without doing any comparitive research...
i finally stopped attending the meetings about 4 months go.
i won't be going back - ever.. but i've decided the best reply to the watchtower is to be happy and i do try to be happy every day even thought i wasted my entire life on this religion.
i cherish every day, practice mindfulness and do my best to be content with the life i have.. it is only now that i see that most jws i know are deeply unhappy people.
"Life is so tough...something to be endured..."
Witnesses are so burdened with such thinking....
