Thinking for myself - without any guilt.
Recognising that we are not bad people simply because we don't follow the edicts of 7 men in NY.

Do you feel comfortable being an apostate?
by Chook ini always found it uncomfortable to informal witness to people but trying to convince a jw to jump ship brings much more pleasure..

Watchtower rips off Disney
by BluesBrother inno doubt this point has been made before but i see no harm in emphasising it.
my family heard on the grapevine that "the society" had people who used to animate for disney.
well , if that is true , it certainly shows.

Unlike Sophia and Caleb and their parents the Disney characters are not judgemental bigoted homophobic and arrogant gits who longingly desire to see 99.9% of the population destroyed.....

If you had two years to live what changes in lifestyle would you do?
by Chook inre-evaluating time and tying lose ends can be complex.
don't worry this chook won't go down without a fight.
just think if i had a short period of time i would let my hair down .

Fair enough. Had me worried there mate.
Yes, life is finite. I see your point.
If I had 2 years, I would ensure that it was not wasted on unimportant stuff. Every day needs to be enjoyed...even the little things in life.

Kids ... and baptism.
by Tallon ini have noticed, from reading posts on this and other related websites, what to me is an alarming practice taking place within the jw's.
and that is the baptism of kids.. on a recent discussion posted by pe ( video of the girl now forced to shun her sister) this child was baptised at 9 years old.
all of us who were baptised at a much older age know of the many questions one needs to give serious consideration and understanding of to become eligible for baptism, not to mention the two baptism questions asked before being dunked.. surely the organisation must know that children of such a young age are not mature enough to fully grasp the seriousness, demands and consequences of making such a decision.. another point; if jesus is the example to follow, then why did he only get baptised at age 30, and he was perfect!.

Yes, it's a well discussed topic, yet very important especially nowadays as the society actively praises and promotes younger and younger baptisms....(even on JW broadcasting)
Let's sum it up: a child is too young to:
Get a drivers licence
Buy or consume alcohol
Enrol to vote
See a doctor alone or choose own medical treatment
Open a bank account
Choose to leave school
Buy a house
Get a job
Operate machinery
Travel overseas unaccompanied
Get married or have sex
etc etc....
Yet the society will say they are old enough to do "The most important thing in life-baptism"
Go figure....

Watchtower's unscriptual boasting about works
by Diogenesister innothing big here, just a little musing on this scripture at ephesians 2.8-9 that definately states that only faith saves, not works, in case men start to boast about their amazing works.
"8for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of god, 9not of works, that no one would boast.
well my word, i would definately say witnesses *do nothing but boast*, especially now on jw broadcast.

Great point.
Also, Jesus supposedly said "when making gifts of mercy, do not let your right hand know what your left is doing"
The organisation does indeed love making great proclamations about its work, especially to help fellow witnesses in natural disasters! No humility or modesty there....
