i have been completely out for close to 5 years and i have spent alot of time with individuals who either left or are in the process of leaving.

whenever we get to talking about what made you leave or what was it that made the flip switch, the initial answer is some doctrinal teaching.

in other instances it was just sorrow or a variety of other things.. however, as you get closer to many of these individuals it was generally a secret sin they committed at the root of it all.

I disagree. Sorry to be so blunt, but I think your reasoning is flawed, and is influenced by witness residual thinking.

The society has created that kind of thinking in witnesses.

They have said that the only reason witnesses leave, is because THEY have done something wrong. That the BLAME lies with that PERSON. They must be spiritually weak, or a secret sinner, or something like that. (see the "return to Jehovah" brochure for example)

The reality is MANY leave because they see the false teachings, and the high-control tactics for what they are - wrong. They see that there is no way that this one organization has the 'TRUTH' as a result of being the ' only channel God is using to communicate with humans'

Most who leave are more moral, and more honest.

It is precisely because we value truth, honesty,and transparency that we have left the society.

in the famous aesop fable, we read about a fox who unsuccessfully tried to get some grapes, but at last had to give it up, and walked away with his nose in the air, saying: “i am sure they are sour.”.

someone made a second part to this story.

fox did some rehearsal in the night and came on to the scene next day, and jumped with difference and got the grapes from the vine tree, and he began to eat to his full capacity.

A retraction and apology - I posted incorrect information.

it was recently brought to my attention by the person who was with me on the carts at the time, that a comment i made six months ago about the cart work on this forum was incorrect.

i apologise and in the interests of honesty and accuracy i feel it is only right to issue a public retraction.

i have quoted the post in question below as i am not sure how to correct or delete the original.

Doubtful1799, that is very honest of you to raise this and issue a correction.

It is not a big issue, but it really does show your level of sincerity and honesty, and that is to be applauded!.

(Never can it be said by the Org that those who leave try to exaggerate or tell mistruths, as we are willing to own our mistakes or errors...unlike the org itself, which has often issued "facts" with no verification or intellectual honesty.)

The difference with "fairy tales" and "biblical accounts" is that biblical accounts are held up as REAL factual historical accounts, while "fairy tale stories" are just accepted as "make believe".

No one is permitted to say that the biblical accounts are just made up...

according to news sources in luanda, angola (read it here, although it's in portuguese language), a regional convention of the jw's taking place this weekend at the outskirts of capital luanda was targeted yesterday, friday, by what may be described as a 'terrorist attack'.. more than 400 attendees (mostly female) passed out in rapid succession in the vicinity of a toilet at the convention place.

reportedly, toxic gas devices were planted there by 3 young members of unita, the main political party that opposed mpla, the dominant regime party in angola since its independence in 1975.

43 people were rushed to the hospital and a few remain there, under medical surveillance.

That is blatant propaganda and manipulation! Every section can be so easily torn apart and debunked! It is full of leading assumptions, manipulative reasonings, distracting thoughts and a direction to remain willfully ignorant, along with outright scare tactics.

If this is the level of stuff they are now producing, and witnesses can not see it for what it is, then those witnesses deserve to be held captive....

Just A Thought Regarding The Bunker Video

as ridiculous as the bunker video was, a few things popped into my consciousness as i was riding the train today.

firstly, why did they go to all the expense and effort to not only create a bunker, but to furnish it like a living room complete with coffee table, armchair, shelves etc?

i mean, a bunker should be a bunker... boxes of tinned food, tools, medical supplies, emergency gear etc.

The video ended with the riot police standing in front of them.

The next time we saw them all was in "the new paradise earth", looking exactly the same age as they did in the basement.

This obviously was meant to imply that they were all resurrected back to life.

Therefore implying that they all were killed when they were taken captive.

Help Finding Poster's Challenge

i've been trying hard to locate a comment that was posted no longer than a few weeks ago (if that) by a poster providing a challenge for witnesses to find one scripture that states that we are still saved/have hope if we are outside of this "new covenant" that wt claims is for the 144,000 only.

the thread was to do with ways we can wake up a loved one and this particular poster (i can't remember who) gave a step-by-step guide to helping witnesses waking up using their own bible and doctrine.

i hope bethel lurkers at warwick listen to the rational viewpoint of this australian woman in the recording below.

she virtually pleads with an australian branch member as to the reasons why shunning is inhumane and how unfair it is that individuals are being held captive within the watchtower organisation.

Perhaps when reading those stories, ask children the question that the society always encouraged us to do when reading the bible: "what does this account teach us about Jehovah?"

By doing that, we can help children to see that Jehovah loves violence, rape, murder, wars, killing and burning animals, slavery etc.....

Not the sort of person I deem to be a "good associate"!
