Yes!
The sentence should just have said "they did not expect to these faithful ones die." Full stop. No need to clarify a time.
After all, if the WT theology is correct, witnesses should not ever die if they are faithful.
i had this point highlighted to me yesterday by a dyed-in-the-wool j.w.
who is beginning to see cracks in his beloved golden calf of warwick.
so encouraging to hear his disgruntlement with org-related topics.. “many in the christian congregation may not have expected their loved ones to die this side of armageddon.” (july 2017 study wt).

a thought occurred to me that most humans (whether they like to admit it or not) love to take a firm and proud stance on something, and love to be able to say to others "see, i told you so!".
this arrogance creates a proud and determined mindset to make people dig their heels in on a stance they have taken - all in the hope that they can one day be proven right, and therefore prove someone else wrong.. so it is with most witnesses.
they are so desperate to be proven correct after all they have invested in their faith, and they have a keen desire to say "see i told you so!".

They want to be able to shout this at all who leave "the truth" , or all "worldly" people who reject their message.
The GB even promote such arrogance if you think about it.
But it is so sad that all these ones will go to their graves never knowing how much they wasted their lives in a vain attempt to arrogantly and proudly stick to their flawed convictions.
Personally, I'm happy to admit when I'm wrong. I admit that I do not have the answers to everything, nor do I have the right to expect that everyone else should accept my views on things. I'm happy to learn and grow and have facts presented to me, as are all of us here on this forum.
The greatest tragedy is that so many witnesses miss out on living just because they desperately want to be able to say "I told you so!"
gorby went for family reasons today, sunday, to the convention in switerbant, netherlands.. from the start it was clear, a fully media event.
country, gospel and choir songs combined with socio emotional videos for tear teasing.
some sisters danced with their hips.
Witnesses are Simple-minded people indeed!
That is why they have no analytical thinking skills, or ability to see facts hit them in the face.
september 7, 2017 to all congregations re: 2018 special conventions.
september 9, 2017 to all bodies of elders re: 2018 special conventions—instructions for congregation secretaries.
2018 special convention application.
"Special!"
The most underwhelming and mis-used word of the society....
i regular pioneered for 2 years and never have actually converted anyone through the door to door work, in fact, i only knew a few individuals that joined this way.
most were born-in or at least had some type of family influence.
i had several bible studies but they all got cold feet when things got serious and potential baptism was discussed.
The ONLY people I know that became witnesses from the doors were lonely, dysfunctional, socially challenged members of the community who were swept up with the joy of being shown some attention by those at their door!

Yes!
It is simply an activity designed to keep witnesses busy!
It is no different to the game parents play to keep their kids quiet and occupied during a long car trip. "Lets see who can count the most white cars!?". Yay...kids are kept busy in an "important job" for mom and dad...
have da'd myself nearly 3 months ago.
now i am part of this world but i feel myself the odd one out.
something inside me is still blocking me to do the things i have been longing to do while i was still a jw, such as attending birthday parties, sex, etc.... just last nite, i was on the way to attend a birthday party.
Amen honest! Well said!
a fair bit of time was spent discussing the (one) scripture in the bible that "proves" that when the bible touches on scientific subjects, it is absolutely correct.
this was at the most recent clam meeting this past week.
from isaiah, the reference to the "circle" of the earth.
Even as a child, I found it confusing! A circle is FLAT...otherwise, it would be called a SPHERE.
Simple.
after 33 years as a jw and leaving 25 years ago i think prayer can be summed up with the jews praying at the wailing wall.. all they are doing is talking to a brick wall ,and getting no feed back.
and they expect an answer to their prayers ?!.
christians /other beliefs might find that funny but they are no better off.. prayer is always a one way street you talk either vocally or mentally to god however you never get the same back .. if god " so loved the world that he doesnt want any to be destroyed but have everlasting life " then whats the problem with him audibly answering his servants prayers ?

Confirmation bias.
