Ok thanks Morpheus.
It makes sense now....
i have seen a few comments about this week's meeting.. was there actually a part that specified an actual per-publisher amount that should be donated regularly?.
can this be confirmed please?.
i truly cant believe just how brazen the society seems to be getting - and how desperate they are!.

i remember once in berlin south germany there was a local needs part for the men only, and how they should use the toilet.
in all seriousness for ten minutes a retarded nigerian was going on about how men need to sit down when using the toilet.
no mention of anything else.. it transpired that some little kraut boy from an "interested" family would aim for the side of the toilet and leave a great big puddle for others to clean up.
We had one about the duration and regularity of coffee breaks during witnessing mornings. The custom was to stop at 10:45 or so for 15 minutes. Nothing excessive.
Apparantly Jehovah doesn't like people wasting time or some such garbage....

I knew about the past arrangements for the KHAA (insurance for halls) and the TOAP (CO cars)
As the accounts servant for years, we were told there would never be a specific monetary amount per publisher stipulated. But it seems this has now been changed, and this specific per publisher amount is announced?
But this recent request, is it something new in addition to those things??
what statement to the elders would get you disfelloshipped fastest?
saying.... a) that you don't believe in god anymore.
or saying ... b) that you don't believe that the governing body is god's canal and mouthpiece anymore.. what opinion is most serious in there eyes?
A well known and well liked District Overseer stated in a very well written letter to the Branch that he did not accept the bible as God's word, nor did he have reason to believe in God. His wife felt the same.
He stated that he had no desire to disrupt anyone else's faith, but simply could not continue to believe as he had before.
They were not DF. They were left alone.
If theSociety wanted to make an example, his case would have been the way to do so. But they left them alone to live their life.
BUT if they had spoken out against the GB being God's channel, things may have gone very differently....
so my parents when i confronted them about how unhappy i am at them shunning me, responded by saying: "you keep using the word shunning, we're not shunning you.
"i am a bit confused how they can say that.
i'm an ex-jw and an atheist.
No, we all have it wrong people!
As the Branch Representative Terry O'Brien went to painful lengths to explain during the second round of the Australian Royal Commission, the Organisation does NOT shun anyone. It is actually those who leave who do the shunning you see.
The poor Society is actually shunned by us! WE are shunning them you see!
(yep, they actually went on like that for what seemed like an eternity!)

Didn't the first issue of the WT clearly say "we will never beg nor petition for money, and that if the funds do not come in, it would be evidence of Jehovah not blessing the work" (words to that effect)
as you know, this week the human race has been hit with hurricanes and earthquakes.
natural disasters which happen almost everyday, but this month we've seen them cause massive damage and a huge loss of lives.. as you can imagine, theres a whole host of jws positively wetting themselves with anticipation over this.link here: https://jwtalk.net/forums/topic/25884-earthquakes-in-one-place-after-another/.
Well, you know...according to JW theology and doctrine, all those who die before Armageddon will be guaranteed a resurrection into the Paradise.
So, by that reasoning, JWs should be happy to see mass death in natural disasters, as that will ensure MORE people will be saved into the New World...
(messed up I know)
anyone who questions the governing bodys authority is labelled as an apostate and almost always they bring up the story of korah and his revolt against moses.. watchtower august 1st, 2002, the article loyally submit to godly authority paragraphs 8-15.. https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/2002563.
in not so subtle hint, the gb likens themselves to moses, and those who disagree with the gb are korah.. paragraph 15 is actually quite damaging to the gb's argument though:.
it was so unnecessary for all those people to lose their lives.
Chook, WHAT?? Really? wow. That is messed up!
When was this?
you all pretty much know my story so i won't repeat it but.... to say i'm being hounded by my local congregation is an understatement.
today the cobe finally found us in.
well, i refused to answer the door but my husband did.
Sorry to hear that you are feeling stressed over this situation.
Keep your Dignity, Poise and Grace! Remember that only YOU have the right to control how you feel. Do not allow them to upset you.
I used this line with the COBE who was trying to harass us:
"Thanks for your interest ___, but I am sure that you will respect our privacy and appropriate boundaries. If this sort of behaviour took place in a work setting, it would be classed as "harassment", and I would be forced to avail myself of the legal means at my disposal. Have a great day, and all the best to your family"

Great thread, and great replies!!
Just like Moses, who (if you believe the story in the bible) took credit for bringing forth water from the rocky crag, so too, the GB take credit for things that are not theirs....
