E cart witnessing on our way to see Shen Yun in San Francisco
by cha ching intoday, i took the day off to go with my husband to san francisco on bart to see shen yun.
coming out of the station, were two elders at a watchtower cart!
my husband loves to witness to them.. started off with a smile and they smiled back and he told them he had been associated with jehovah's witnesses and now he is not but he wishes to tell them that even though they are going to hear things that are upsetting in the news, there is life after jehovah's witnesses.. they smiled and asked him if they could ask what religion he has gone to, or what he is doing now.

Yup.
Same here. My wife and I are NOT DF or DA officially. (Although the local circuit elders HAVE ensured that the gossip mill has maligned our name and character)
We get the coldest and rudest treatment, from ones that we did SO MUCH FOR!
They have no sense of appreciation, loyalty or true friendship. The conditional relationships are based PURELY on a person's activity and presence at the meetings and in JW activities.

Child abuse
by Jrjw ini was talking to a jdub yesterday about child abuse in the organisation and this was his response:.
"it has been known for kids to make stuff up.
we have to trust the society on these things, also the legal process is there.

I knew of a case in the congregation we were in where the Elders specifically spread the message that "the young sister who claimed to be abused was probably coached to say those things by her bitter parents who were using it as a way to get back at the congregation for not appointing the father as an MS"
Yes, I kid you not. That was the narrative they spread!

Wow! Great post Doubtful1799! How sad...
I also heard an interesting thing a few days back from my VERY IN father. He has been studying with a man for several years now who according to my father "Is not rightly disposed, and is not progressing in his study because he asks too many questions".
So I asked "will you still keep studying with him?"
The response?
"Well, bro____ who accompanies me on the study is short on hours at the moment, so we will keep the study going for now"
I couldn't believe what I heard!

Singing todays WT
by road to nowhere inthe jist was that we all should sing.
then the first 6 or 8 paragraphs describe how early bible accounts have trained and set aside musicians to do the singing while everyone else listened.. the songs they have put out have no soul, rhythm, or soothing melodies as a whole.
the old hymns are some real music, even if you don't agree with the "teachings".. there is no admission of poetry using archaic language at times for affect or to add to the rhyme, they have to have everything agree with the grey bible.. anyone speak foreign languages?

They have officially reached a new low of craziness with that quote about "sisters not telling others what to do" by singing the words of the song!
Are the GB that freaking obsessed with the condemnation of women that they cant ever sing a song along with the group that extols the benefit of some form of "Christian" activity or conduct?
I am shaking my head in utter disbelief!

Local elder dies of starvation
by Steel inwell , not really.. our hall recently had a secret collection for our head elder who is almost on the verge of becoming homeless.
i guess he lost some cleaning contracts because his clients were just sick of his no shows because of his pioneer work.
there is always something more important to do than earn a living.. this is the same assholes he is always shaming people to not doing enough.

If it was just an ordinary (NON APPOINTED) person, they would be counselled by Elders for "not counting the cost, or being foolish with their decisions"!
BUT somehow because he must be a well liked APPOINTED man, they take up a collection??
I got counselled severely many years back when I arranged a secret collection for a young teenager's family. He was diagnosed with a serious form of cancer, and required expensive treatments that they struggled to afford.
I anonymously took a card and envelope around to all, and offered the opportunity to donate. It was not an official congregation initiative (because we KNOW that NO money ever goes OUT from the cong to the actual members)
I was told it was "not appropriate. and was presumptuous" to do this, and that "the family is not an exemplary family"!
Fast-forward now 7 years, he is doing well, his dad is an Elder. They don't speak with me, and I'm out of the cult.
