...and so it begins
by Phoebe ini've had an email from a sister who tells me that out in field service this morning a long standing route call has told them she won't be taking any more magazines and doesn't want them calling on her again because she has heard about the jws child abuse scandals and cover ups.
she was quite angry with them and said your elders say there is nothing wrong but there is and it will all come out.. this is the first time anyone i know of has been challenged on the doorstep and they were absolutely shocked and also angry.
angry that the organization is not preparing them for dealing with this and for not being honest with the brothers about what is going on ie: lawsuits etc.. just thought i'd share that with you..

Praying in the name of Michael the archangel instead of Jesus
by krismalone injust wondering what would happen if a brother saying a prayer in a meeting did it in the name of michael the archangel instead of closing the prayer with "jesus christ".
since jw's believe michael is jesus would he be counseled?
what if a brother used the name michael the archangel in their public talks instead of jesus?

But Bobby, Sergeant is a TITLE not a name.
Michael and Jesus are names.
The point is, the names refer to the same personage. therefore the names could be interchangeable.
Your example about your "dad" also being a "sergeant" actually proves the point. He is one and the same person.

Eulogies
by redundantcartworker ini recently attended a non jw funeral at a local church.
during the service, a couple of friends/relatives of the deceased eloquently spoke for a few minutes about the deceased with some of their fond memories and gave heartfelt, respectful tributes.. would i ( a non jw) be given a few minutes to speak at either of my jw parents funerals at the kingdom hall ?.
i guess i already know the answer, but if the answer is "no", then why not and how would they hide the heartlessness of refusing ?

I have given JW funeral talks. In fact I had to stand my ground and REFUSE a witness family from saying anything about their deceased love one!. It was ridiculous! Me, and overrighteous late 20's speaker telling the family that "It was not Jehovah's arrangement to allow Eulogys to take place! (If only I could have my time back and say sorry to them!)
I have been to many other JW funerals.
I have never truly cried or wept at a funeral, as this was not supposed to happen to us because we had the "kingdom hope", and were to be "dignified".
I went to a relative's funeral though as a 40 year old, and it was not the JW scripted event, and I LOST it crying! They played popular music that the deceased enjoyed, and people gave heartfelt comments. It was the most therapeutic thing ever! I truly felt like I had grieved in a healthy way!

Stock market turmoil....
by mikeflood indow jones losing 1175 points today, equivalent to 4.60 % ..... same more or less around the world's stock exchanges.
it's like president bush said "wall street got drunk and now it's got a hangover".
i think people went irrational over investing, a correction is needed..

It is a sign of the times!
"They will be throwing their silver in the streets"... (some Isiah scripture or other I'm sure)
Here we go again, as religious fundamentalists latch on to this new "proof" of Jehovah's great day...

But Bobby, If it is indeed his name, then it matters not what his role is at any time.
He is the same person regardless right? If someone calls you "Robert" one day, and "Bobby" the next, they are still referring to you.
So, the opening poster makes a great point. If Jesus and Michael are the same person, (despite different roles), then why not use that name? It is not technically incorrect

New here...
by Jacobi inmy name is jacobi, i am a born-in but mentally out for more or less a decade at this point (although it was cradual) and about 40yo.
i don't want to say a lot about my family, but it is a mix of going-through-the-motions, semi-actives (but mentally in), some who have left for a few reasons and one really depressed pioneer.
because people fade in and out i have managed to slide under the radar and i keep up apperances of not being all-out apostate but i completed my fade about years ago (it also helped i moved to another part of the country).. i might rub some of you the wrong way because of my views on different things like politics.. i am not a trump supporter at all and neither are most people in my country.

The book burning has started
by pale.emperor indon't know if this is a global thing but i've just been told by a pimo member of my old congregation that a min servant has been given the task of destroying all old books/literature in the kh library prior to 1992.. could be the elders (or even one of them) on a mission to stamp out dissent as my ex-wife used the same reasoning to her elder dad that i used in my jc: rutherfords books containing failed predictions.. anyone else heared anything?.
the ms who's been given the task is a company man.
no hope of him keeping them or selling them on ebay.. they have some russell books in that library too.

This happened in my hall.
During a work-day at the hall, The co-ordinator directed that all older books (in this case 1980 and older) were to be boxed up and thrown to the tip.
I was kind of still in, and so objected and stated that "this is part of our rich spiritual heritage", as I had just had a talk on that subject not long before. The talk encouraged us to value all the older books.
In the end, I hid them all under the KHall, and progressively borrowed one after another to check them through. That is when I found out the really crazy stuff "we" used to believe!
These very books, "Our rich Spiritual Heritage" were full of wacky and crazy stuff!
It was then that I understood why they wanted it all destroyed!

Have you ever gone back to a meeting out of curiosity?
by stuckinarut2 injust wondering if anyone has gone back to a meeting out of curiosity?
(perhaps to an area far from your old khall where you know no one).
with all the changes from 2012 onwards (videos, tv screens, new meeting format, new songs etc) it would be an odd experience to be in attendance!.

Got any pictures you'd like to share from your visit? @jwfacts?
Did anyone recognise you as Australia's leading apostate?😉
