The Excuses JWs use for the child abuse mishandling issue...
by stuckinarut2 ini have noticed a pattern of regurgitated excuses and justifications used by the average jw if the topic of child abuse gets raised:.
"oh but jehovah's organization is setting the lead in how to handle this issue".
"why are you getting so hung up on this one issue?

You are spot on.

So, I did a thing ... Shunned VIDcast #1 - Secrets - Jehovah's Witnesses and Cult Life
by dubstepped inalright, many of you know me from the this jw life and shunned podcasts along with my inane ramblings on here.
i just made my first video and put myself out there on youtube along with my podcast episodes that are on there now.
i put my podcast audio up on there as videos and new people are subscribing and finding it through that.

Spiritual "Protection" - a Menace on Psychological Development
by Wake Me Up Before You Jo-Ho innot quite a week ago, @lost in the fog created a thread entitled: do you have this illness?.
https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/5187824140681216/do-you-have-this-illness.
in my year of being on this forum, i have browsed many a disillusioned thread of ex-jehovah’s witnesses expressing similar symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder when detailing their awakening - my own story included.

Convention 2018 Notes
by pale.emperor insomeone on jwtalk has shared their convention notes (for those interested in a jw perspective).
jehovah’s people will experience hardships, so reliance on god is paramount!.
prayer is essential and vital for our spiritual well-being.

Undue Influence
by Lee Elder inthis is what "undue influence" looks like.
it's how you train someone to abandon their children, become a martyr, and drink the kool-aid.

Great point @floridaborn!
Yes, considering that nowadays, the official policy of the Society is to NOT visit all inactive ones or disfellowshipped ones. Remember in the past they would assign two elders to visit these ones on a yearly basis? No more.

When I was asked if I was upset over this "issue" because I may have been abused, I replied that "no, I personally have not been hurt"
The brother then said to me "so if you haven't been abused, why are you so hung up on this topic?"
I couldn't believe how he, a father of three young kids, couldn't see how awful and self-centered his response was!

Census of the consensus

Very true point Wake!
Doubt is indeed what drives us to the pursuit of knowledge. Healthy scepticism is what helps us ensure we are not victims of credulity.
Anytime someone says they know something to be 100% true, they must have facts to back up that claim. Religions by their very nature CAN NOT back up their claims. That is what blind faith is....
