Yes, I have heard so many of the podcasts talking about this:
Friendly Atheist
How to Heretic
Thank God Im atheist
etc
It is simply inappropriate! Im so happy that reputable news outlets have highlighted this practice

The "abused" becomes the "abuser"
by stuckinarut2 ina thought occurred to me about the perpetuation of jw abusive culture.. (i do not mean sexual abuse - i am referring to emotional, or behavioural abuses).
most jws are raised in the oppressive and abusive culture of jw life.
they have been raised with low self esteem.

New Episode Of The Shunned Podcast If You're So Inclined
by dubstepped ini know i have a few people here that enjoy the stories on the podcast, so i announce when a new one comes out.
also sometimes this is a way for new people to find it and get help if they want, so here it is.
between this jw life (my first podcast) and shunned we just went over the 40,000 individual download mark, which is pretty cool.. i just released episode sixteen about sydney, and it's a great look into the narcissism and authoritarian nature of the cult.

A thought occurred to me about the perpetuation of JW abusive culture.
(I do not mean sexual abuse - I am referring to Emotional, or Behavioural abuses)
Most JWs are raised in the oppressive and abusive culture of JW life. They have been raised with low self esteem. Raised to believe they are sinful, never good enough, and in need of the direction by the Governing Body. They are in fear of Armageddon - and surviving through the Great Tribulation - with all its persecution narratives.
They grow up believing the warped doctrines and are subjected to the distorted behaviours.
They grow up being denied the right of higher education, normal dating and relationship experiences, and childhood social interactions with school friends etc...
But somewhere along the line, these ones becomes adults - strictly adhering to the doctrines. They raise their own children in the same culture. Many even rise through the ranks and become appointed leaders (Pioneers, MS, Elders etc)
SO, they become the very abusers themselves! The very enforcers of the same warped abuses that they were subjected to as children...
And so the cycle is perpetuated!
More victims result.....more lives are ruined!

Denying, or condemning higher education is a crime against the youth!
How dare a group of 8 old men cause the desire to be educated to be a guilt inducing sin!
Where would the world be without well educated professionals!?

Great points Xanthippe!
They are too invested to even allow themselves to think outside of the Jw bubble mindset.
They need us to be the "baddies". Or it makes their whole life a waste!
PE showed us all how to handle it. Be kind, polite and normal. Show by our niceness, that we are happy and enjoying our life. Rouse their curiousity about how good life can be on the outside.

Jehovah’s Witness dating rules
by Addison0998 ini’m sorry that i talk about dating a lot, i know it is probably very annoying, but you don’t have to read it.
but did anyone else have the most difficult time dating as a young jw?
me and my boyfriend have been dating for a year in half, we are in our early 20’s, and we are still not allowed to hold hands, cuddle or kiss.

Would you buy a car before test driving it?
Would you buy a house sight unseen?
No
But JW culture demands that the biggest commitment of one's life is made with very little REAL background knowledge. Marriage is about how you work WHEN NO ONE ELSE IS AROUND. Yet JW culture never allows the two people to ever really be alone to discuss things properly!
