And yet in that money-begging broadcasting episode Lett said that even with the sales of property, they would only have enough "for a few months" of operations....

I think those of us that were born in can relate to the messed up attitudes we developed as children, due to being told how "privileged" we were to have the "truth" while everyone around us was part of Satan's world.....
That messes with the development of a child...
Kyria nails that very well

A brother repeated a "rumor" from the platform last night.
by NikL ini seem to remember many talks and articles in the past about repeating rumors.last night before going into the book study the conductor said something to the effect, "i heard a rumor and i don't know if it's true but the rumor is that in the future we will be using only;y videos at the door.".
anyone else heard this "rumor"?.
and whats up with repeating rumors from the platform?

Who knows?
I have seen that it is better to not say "never" when it comes to witness things.
Before the rebranding of JayDub.org logos on all halls, there was a thread here on the forum that shared the "rumour" that all halls would get new signs with the blue logo on them.
It was laughed off by many who said it "would never happen"....
Well.....it did.....

For those raised as witnesses through the 70's, 80's etc, you will absolutely get it!
Her writing style is refreshingly witty and fast paced.
It is a great book!

Conditional Love
by Saethydd ini've noticed several posts recently claiming that jw friends and family members give out conditional love.
well, i'm not so sure that is entirely accurate, in fact, i would say they tend to be very steadfast in their love.
the issue is this, they have been taught a poor form of love.

Even the bible spoke about people with "No natural affection".
How appropriate that is for Witnesses! The culture of condemning and pushing away those who don't agree with the ideas of a group of men in the USA is the very definition of "No natural affection"!
For FAMILY bonds to be severed on the say-so of men who don't even know your family, is indeed a "lack of natural affection"

A sincere and genuine welcome confusedandangry!
Please be assured that you are amongst honest people here in this community who respect you and understand the journey you are going through.
It has been over three years for me now since I allowed myself to break free and look at "the man behind the curtain" (wizard of oz analogy)
You are not alone.
You are not the one with the problem. The society we revered as "gods channel" is wanting and reprehensible in many ways.
The best piece of advice I can offer is: Maintain your dignity, poise and grace as you discover the many things about the "truth" (or as we say TTATT. the truth about the truth)
Dont try and mentally deal with everything at once. Take Baby steps.
And share your thoughts here on the forum! This is a safe place.
I look back at the hundreds of posts I have made, and I'm thankful for this forum. It allowed me to purge my thoughts and share with others in the journey.

What have been some of the funniest local needs talks that you have heard?
by DaPriest ini remember once in berlin south germany there was a local needs part for the men only, and how they should use the toilet.
in all seriousness for ten minutes a retarded nigerian was going on about how men need to sit down when using the toilet.
no mention of anything else.. it transpired that some little kraut boy from an "interested" family would aim for the side of the toilet and leave a great big puddle for others to clean up.

Ah yep...a talk about how adults who do correspondence courses to pursue higher education are just "bored housewives who should be spending more time out witnessing..."

Witnesses really hate it when you appear to leave.
by schnell ini have a certain customer, whom we will call sally.
i know sally only by face and only through work.
i am a truck driver on a local dedicated route, and i often deliver to her work.

Just maintain your dignity and poise. Be the same nice person you always have been.
It messes with their heads when we are nice!

The popularity fad of home-schooling!
by stuckinarut2 ini know this has been discussed over the years on this forum, but i just had to post this again!.
it seems that the popular fad amongst the "spiritual" ones in the local circuits is to home school their children instead of sending them to school.. now to clarify, we are in a very nice area of semi rural australia .
one with very community minded, and strong family values.

It has wisely often been said that parents should never teach their own teenager to drive, but should rather have a trained driving instructor teach them. Otherwise, the teenage may not take the lessons seriously, or listen to the directions. Also, the bad driving habits of the parents may simply be adopted by the teenager.
Similar situation to education?

Why so few XJWs online?
by StephaneLaliberte innot too long ago, i posted a topic where i pointed out that there are about 1 million xjws alive right now.
that number only represented the disfellowshipped ones... didn't account for those who had become publishers and left or anyone else who got hurt by that group by proxy.
so, why are there so few of them online?

A goal of many is to become "Ex Ex Jehovah's Witnesses"
In other words, to get to point where the JW history no longer dominates one's life....
