hmmmm...yesterday my long life friend called my landline after many years of silence.
now the shock has subsided, i am wondering if i can forgive and forget the fact she chose not to keep in touch throughout a time in my life which was very stressful.
sadly, i gathered that she is still involved with jehovah’s witness faith.
One of our fellow forum members has had a couple of random former witness "friends" contact her out of the blue recently.
These ones have asked questions like "which convention did you attend?" And "which cong territory are you in now?"
It is kind of odd that people come out of the woodwork and show such "interest" after years of ignoring her!
i am sure we have all thought of this before, but it struck me again today:.
why does the society promote such vitriolic hate toward, and about those who have left "the truth" ?.
surely it is obvious that such critical attitudes towards ones like us who have left, only serves to proove that they do not have "the truth"?.

i am sure we have all thought of this before, but it struck me again today:.
why does the society promote such vitriolic hate toward, and about those who have left "the truth" ?.
surely it is obvious that such critical attitudes towards ones like us who have left, only serves to proove that they do not have "the truth"?.

Surely it is obvious that such critical attitudes towards ones like us who have left, only serves to PROOVE that they do not have "The Truth"?
If they are so sure they have the truth, there should be NO NEED for negative portrayals of those who have left. There should be no need to speak badly or critically of those who have chosen to fade or leave outright!
The "Truth" should stand on its own, and should require no fueling of vitriolic hate.
Thoughts?
in my area i know of four congregations dissolved in one circuit, so that leaves eight weeks a year empty for that circuit overseer's calendar.
dissolving congregations is happening more than in my area, so i believe we can assume other c.o.s have open time.
it appears that c.o.s are visiting with a companion c.o.
I don't understand the point of that embedded video?

i hate to say this, but given my own experience as a jw for almost 3 decades, i am beginning to believe the average jw will continue to look to and be guided by the gb regardless of whether they are right or wrong.. despite all the scandals and negative media attention the watchtower organisation is receiving, life seems to go on as normal in jw land.

clearly, the gbs tactic of mostly hiding away from the media is clearly working for them.

There has been a steady decline in the "growth rate" for some years now...in EDUCATED and ADVANCED nations.
The only real growth the society is experiencing is in underdeveloped nations with little education...
For those who have invested their whole lives - well, there may be little hope of them awakening. But as for NEW ones coming in, I think those days are over for the society.
nothing big here, just a little musing on this scripture at ephesians 2.8-9 that definately states that only faith saves, not works, in case men start to boast about their amazing works.
"8for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of god, 9not of works, that no one would boast.
well my word, i would definately say witnesses *do nothing but boast*, especially now on jw broadcast.

a cigar: i dont smoke cigarettes at all, but i do enjoy a good cigar from time to time.
Thinking for myself - without any guilt.
Recognising that we are not bad people simply because we don't follow the edicts of 7 men in NY.
