Let's talk business ...

i am thinking that this could be an interesting topic.

most of us never had a chance to go to college, many of us were involved in various service industries like cleaning and such, and we have had some limitations placed on us.

so i thought it might be interested to see what has worked for people, what hasn't, what the progression has been, where people went wrong and where they got it right.

Yes, the missed opportunities is a big issue for many of us. What COULD we have been if higher education wasn't condemned?? What if....

I had a similar path as you. Because of "putting the kingdom and theocratic things first", I didn't go past high school.

I would have LOVED to go into marketing or advertising!

I would have LOVED to have become an architect - designing houses and buildings!

Instead, I cleaned windows, did basic sales jobs etc.

OK, so I have done ok out of it to be honest. I have had the gift of being able to speak with people, and provide good customer service. I started a business 15 years back that has done well enough for us to live adequately. So I am not bemoaning my lot in life. BUT - rather than being in control and pursuing a career that I REALLY wanted, I had to settle for one that "pays the bills"

Oh wow...That is so appalling.

In addition to already offered wise advice, I can just say "The only power they have over you is that which you allow"

So do not be drawn into the stupid games the Elders try and play. If you and your boyfriend are comfortable with your relationship, then there is no need to allow anyone else to pry into it!

Be happy, confident and keep your dignity.

And as others have said, don't try and wake him up by dumping huge facts on him. Just slowly ask questions about things and let him be the "spiritual man" and research things...then slowly show him the things you have found....

But I will also say one thing : Are you prepared to envision your life without him IF he doesn't wake up? You have your whole life ahead of you - don't get tied into the organization and have to live a lie....it will kill you.

Palm Coast Facility Shut down

this is the facility the wts purchased from embrey riddle univ.

I attended my 2nd exjw meetup and it was brilliant

i decided to attend my 2nd scottish exjw meetup and what a blast.

so many experiences.

it was incredibly engaging to actually meet people in the flesh and hearing their personal stories.. the damage the watchtower organisation causes to peoples lives is absolutely disgusting.

i know that there's been a lot posted about this already but i wanted to ask if anyone knew if the wts was in breach of the information commissioner's office (uk) directive or am i misunderstanding something.

the ioc give a list of requirements with regards to charities and in part it says .

that consent is not a precondition for the service provided.
