  just got done watching this program and what impress me the most was the bravery of those x-witnesses to sit there on national tv and tell everyone how the wt.

  cult affected them.

  no hidden faces, no avatar names and no disguise.

  Oh the irony!!!

  just wanted to share this funny thing.. so we have just been invited to a neighborhood xmas party to be held in the house of a lovely couple around the corner from us.. they bought the house a short time back from a jw who built it and lived there!.

  so, we get to enjoy one of our first xmas parties as a couple, in the former house of a jw!.

  now, that made me giggle.....

  A Cult Tactic: Removing Guilt By Dehumanising Others

  in the real world, very few parents would disown their own children simply because they read a magazine that told them to do it.

  very few people would forever completely ignore their own parents because an elder got up on a platform one day and announced that they no longer follow the same religion as you.. in the real world it just doesn't happen.

  and yet, for 8 million jehovah's witnesses it's very a normal part of their world to treat "other people" differently than they'd treat each other.

  Do you know MORE about the bible NOW?

  how many of us would confidently say that we know more about the bible now that we have ceased being jws?.

  i know that i was proud to say that i was a "serious bible student" when a jw.

  we boasted about how much we learned each week, and how we shared bible truths with the community.. but it's only after leaving, and really delving into a broad range of research, that i realise how little i actually knew!.

  All media attention is a good thing in my opinion.

  The more that the public sees, the less they are likely to give JWs at the door the opportunity to share their message - and that can save plenty of lives!

  My father became involved with the JWs before that time. Yet he maintains that it was NEVER promoted or taught!

  He even says it was just "apostate lies".

  It is amazing how they can conveniently re-write history and their memory when it suits.....

  Yes, I am aware of so much more about the bible, its compilation, origin, writers etc than ever before.

  I am also so keen to use the very expression that the Society drummed into us: "When reading a section of 'God's word', ask yourself what does this teach me about Jehovah?"

  Well, I did that, and it taught me that "jehovah" is not a very nice entity at all!

  As you pointed out Dubstepped, that section about Lot (God's friend) is appalling!

  I Saw An Elder Yesterday Who Told Me 3 Area Kingdom Halls Were Being Dissolved

  he said they read the letter to the congregation and were told the kh would be disbanded.

  2 other halls in the area were slated for closure.

  he said many people in the congregation began crying.
