This is a great video- well worth watching.
It shows how a multi-level marketing group that peddles psydo-science can be compared to a religious group.

i really like my alexa.
a little creepy at first, but quite interesting.. i asked her if i should attend the assembly day on saturday.. she said "in your case, just go in the morning, walk around, see everyone, then at lunch walk to your car while talking on your cell phone.
then just leave.
Maybe you should be careful of spending time alone with Alexa unchaperoned?
After all, I'm sure some Elders will form a Judicial Committee and come after you!
do people simply leave because the site has given them what they wanted?
are they now infrequent lurkers?.
did they go back to the watchtower?.
I agree that it can be a little unsettling when those whom we viewed as integral or "founding" regular members seem to disappear.
I suppose too that it all depends on when we joined, and who was active during the time period that we relied so much on this community.
Most move on and adjust to life on the outside - free of being all consumed by JW stuff. That can be very healthy.
But its also important to be available to help those who are newly awakening. After all, people were here for us - so we should be here for new ones too.
As others have mentioned too though, there is an ever expanding EXJW activist community online and in the world in general. Many are pursuing their own youtube channels or websites. That is great! It means the wave of momentum is increasing!
Much love to ALL who work hard to expose the toxic nature of the WT / JW.ORG
so we all know that the first few commandments state that "there should be no graven images made" etc.... but, the very "ark of the covenant" had two angelic figures on the lid!
so the very box used to carry the 10 commandment tablets, broke those same laws!!!.
this observation, plus many other hilarious ones is highlighted in the latest episode of the how-to heretic podcast (episode 063).

It is a great listen! Well worth spending the time listening to.
just want to introduce myself and let you know that this site is working and is a big help to lots of jws with doubts.
i've been lurking for about a year, the first couple of times i was frightened and literally shaking visiting an apostate site but it's the only place i can come to for sanity.
the religion has become a nut house.
Welcome!!
This is a great community - you will find fantastic support here.
ok, so it’s not a jw prophetic prediction, but one from our “cousins” the mormons (or as the latest president of their church russel m nelson prefers ‘the church of jesus christ of latter day saints’).
i reckon they will drop their ban on caffeine soon.
they will change their long held beliefs about tea and coffee being wrong.. watch this space!

Sorry I am late to this thread Kathy!
Thank you for sharing your story
Welcome to this great community!
we all know about the variation in the "cult persona vs the "real persona" of those in high control groups such as jws.. it struck me this becomes even more pronounced and apparent when jws actually put on their physical meeting or service attire, or are engaged in jw activities.
they become more robotic as their responses and actions - yes their opinions and discussions- are stripped of humanity and thought, and they become turned into some sort of regurgitating jw orator.. when they literally put on a suit or tie, the level of judgement, arrogance and black and white thinking takes on a whole new level.
take that clothing off, and put them in casual attire to attend some sort of enjoyable activity (eg sports watching or the like) and they become far more relaxed, and "normal".. i have noticed this particularly with my father.

I have noticed this particularly with my father. On the day of the meeting (for the entire day before the night meeting), he is engrossed in JW preparation. This turns him into a totally different person. uptight, focussed, stressed etc...
But, the man who enjoys watching football is a relaxed ,happy person.
If there is a change in the mid week meeting schedule because of a weekend assembly, he is far more relaxed! Almost doesnt see that he is happy that he "gets a night off" from the meeting!
Any thoughts?
the spookiest questions about god are profound when we take one step back and examine who/what such a god would be... j-u-s-t before creating the universe.... .
before anything was created: god wouldn't have been "the creator".
with nobody around wouldn't be supreme being (superior to who/ what?
Interesting thread Terry!
You asked what we would think of someone who chose to live on their own and isolate themselves?
You also asked what sort of results this may cause in their thinking or personality?
Lets let "God's own word the bible" answer it:
Proverbs 18:1 "one who isolates himself will seek his own selfish longing"
https://biblehub.com/esv/proverbs/18-1.htm
Yup, this pretty much sums up "God" well. A selfish, narcisistic bully.....with serious control and power issues....

Wow!!
Just watch the JWs cry out "Persecution from Satan!"
If you hear someone say that, just repeat this expression: "Prosecution IS NOT Persecution"
