"Millions Now Living Will Never Die" slogan appeared in sci-fi novel
by VM44 inrutherford's (in)famous slogan "millions now living will never die" appeared in a sci-fi book, part of which was written around 1949.. the novel is "cities in flight" by james blish.. in the first section of the book (there are three or four sections to it), there is a religious group that plays a minor role in the novel that is shooting fireworks into the sky to display a message.
the message is:.
*** millions now living will never die ***.

It seems likely that when James Blish wrote "Cities in Flight", he was remembering that slogan from some 20-25 years earlier, just as we often remember songs, commercials, etc from the '70s and '80s (and look how often popular songs from that era show up in advertisements!). Perhaps he, or his parents, had read some WTBTS literature. My grandmother had a very thick book published by some other bible company which also taught that Armageddon was drawing near, so the idea may have been relatively widespread.

by frankiespeakin inpicture this the human speices could very well in the not too distant future have all reproduction done inside a very controlled enviroment(labratory) for optimum health of the speices with some special device for weeding out defects headed in a wrong direction and allowing the positive ones to be passed on by some kind of mathematical nonlinier formula that seems to speed up positive changes in the dna.
and as a result all sex relations never results in reproduction or transfference of decease because of this prosess.
now if that were true would you like the casual view of sex, would you indugle is it if it was morally exceptable and no one really worried about who belongs to who, and it was no big deal?

This sounds a bit like the movie "Gattaca", in which most children is genetically optimized to ensure the highest opportunity for health, intelligence, and a successful life. Those who aren't end up with menial jobs such as janitors, servants, etc. The story revolves around one non-optimized individual who tries to fit in and competes in against optimized people for an opportunity to be chosen for a position on the space program.

If there is a Borders, Barnes & Noble, Waldenbooks, or Books-A-Million in your area, check out their section on Metaphysical Studies (sometimes labeled New Age). Lots of good titles are available which can answer all your questions, including "Drawing Down the Moon" by Margot Alder, "The Spiral Dance" by Starhawk, almost anything by Scott Cunningham (especially Wicca-a Guide for the Solitary Practitioner), and anything by Vivianne Crowley. Wicca is often called "The Old Path" referring to nature-centered beliefs which were practised long before the rise of Christianity. Modern wicca is not exactly an exact reconstruction of old practices as much as an effort to create a modern nature-centered belief system which does honor its ancient roots. However, as some have pointed out already, there are some people who claim they are wiccans, witches, pagans, etc, because they think this makes them appear somehow "spooky" (hence interesting?). Most wiccans, pagans, etc, don't wear much in the way of special clothing to distinguish themselves from others. Some may wear a ring or necklace, others not.

I began fading a few years ago, and began missing meetings. Eventually, I moved to another city, although I did have my publishers card sent to the local congregation there. Elders came by my new place, and asked if "there was anything they could do, as I had evidently stumbled". I told them that my work prevented meeting attendance or field service "for the immediate future", and they left me alone. Then I moved again, and did NOT have my publishers card forwarded. This time, I haven't even seen witnesses in my neighborhood, let alone on my doorstep, although I have found tracts once or twice.

What's the last good fantasy or scifi book that you could'nt put down?
by Leander inso what's the last fantasy/scifi book that you read that was just so good you could'nt put it down until you were done reading it?
i need a few recommendations, i'm in the mood for a good book.. for me the last really good scifi book was orson scott card's "ender's game".
for a long time i avoided this book because i thought it was aimed at a younger audience, but after hearing so many people praise it i finally took a chance on it.

Sci-fi best would be "Contact" which was the basis for the excellent movie. Fantasy best would be "Mists of Avalon", and best anthology would be "Out of Avalon" (not really realated to MoA, except that the stories deal loosely with the theme of Avalon, not necessarily with Arthur).

If the question is asking what alcoholic beverage Witnesses are allowed to drink, I seem to remember that anything was ok, so long as it was consumed in moderation, i.e. if you actually got drunk, you could be in trouble yourself, as well as "bringing reproach upon the congregation". As for myself, I admit a preference for Zima.
