A Kingdom Hall in Corpus Christi, Texas was burned sometime during the late '80s. Someone removed the hinge pins from the front doors, entered and piled a large amount of literature on the floor, then poured gasoline on the literature and lit it. The fire department arrived in time to prevent the entire structure from being consumed, but as it was, repairs, including a new roof, took months. The congregation had to meet at a special time in another hall. I wonder where Jehovahs holy spirit was at the time?

Would Jesus forgive Satan if he repented?

that would be a waste of time.. if yes?....who would he not forgive?.

Widespread thought among average witnesses was that even if Satan repented, he would not be forgiven, because he had began as a perfect spirit creature, so his rebellion was not a "mistake due to imperfection" but a "choice".

I would say that "soul" and "spirit" are essentially the same thing, in this case think of them as being like a radio wave which has no physical expression unless there is a body (radio receiver) for it to act upon. The same wave is reproduced or expressed differently in different receivers, according to how they are built.

Oh yes! Brothers and sisters seemed to enjoy my association eqally well. Was regularly invited on dates, and to slumber parties at other sisters homes. Not much different now except the names.

I think the very best thing you can do for any JW is to ask them a question which forces them to think, such as: "Genesis 1:11-26 indicates that God created green vegetation before creating humans. Do you agree with this?" (Allow a response). "However, Genesis 2:5-9 specifically states that there were NO bushes or vegetation before the creation of humans. So, which account is correct?" Another one: "Do you believe that ALL scripture is inspired of God?" (Allow response) "What do you think of the passage at 1 Corinthians 7:25, where Paul admits that he is NOT speaking under 'command from the Lord', but just voicing his opinion?" You will likely get a canned response, but you will have planted a seed which may eventually lead to this individual realizing the inconsistencies in the teachings they have been fed.

January 15 Watchtower: Angels
by GramblingMan ini'm here looking at my wifes watchtower mag and it has a drawing for the angels, maybe it's me but all the angels are white men and they have beards.
i'm oversensitive or is this a message they are sending out to the readers.
i thought the anointed ones are suppose to become angels?

There does appear to be a contradiction in that, on one hand, we have been told that angels are "neither male nor female", but on the other hand, we are also told that angels "noticed" women of earth and desired to have sex with them, and came to earth and did just that, fathering "Nephilim". Perhaps they are genderless only when in heaven?

Such a tough question. I do second Ray Bradbury, especially "Martian Chronicles" (although the miniseries was not so great), "Illustrated Man", "S is for Space", and others. He recently wrote "From the Dust Returned" which ties together and completes "Addams family" series of stories (he was good friends with Addams, and stories such as "The April Witch" and "Uncle Einar" were probably inspired by conversations with Addams). However, the very best science fiction novel I've ever read was perhaps "Contact" by Carl Sagan. Wonderful movie as well.

There may possibly have been a historical Jesus who was something like Ghandi, an advocate of peace who attempted to reform a corrupt system and who gained many followers. However, for a certainty, many of the miraculous events said to surround him were later fabrications. Perhaps in a couple of centuries people will begin to attribute miracles to Ghandi as well? One could make the case that there is more evidence supporting the existence of the detective Sherlock Holmes, of whom we have more documents surviving from the 19th century, actually written at the time the events were said to occur than we have ever had from Jesus time. Additionally, the events attributed to Sherlock Holmes are much more believable.
