Was Jesus sacrifice really a sacrifice?
by jambon1 ini would like to state firstly that i in no way intend to offend anyone.. its just when i was in the org i had major problems with the blood issue/death because of persecution.
many times we were taught that god does`nt ask us to do anything that he has`nt done himself.
now imagine everything the bible says about jesus really did happen.

I wonder if Jesus went through any more suffering than the two 'evildoers' who died on either side of him?

How Did Things Change After You Were Baptised?
by whyizit ini've noticed that a lot of jws and former jws have said there was a big change after they became baptised.
how were you treated before, as compared to after?
is there really that noticeable of a difference?

The individual who was 'studying' with me cancelled our study a few weeks after my baptism. I wanted to continue studying in a second publication after having finished the first, however they were not willing to waste their time since they couldn't count time on me any longer.

Film Scenes that got burnt onto your memory
by greendawn inwhat were some film scenes that pleased or horrified you so much that they stayed vivid in your memory for a long time?
the one i always recall is the scene where anthony hopkins (playing as hannibal lector) lobotomised ray liotta (paul krendler) cutting off pieces of his brain and giving them to him to eat.
he also took some of liotta's cooked brain in a plane and gave them to an unsuspecting passenger boy sitting next to him to eat.

The opening scenes of "Contact", in which the viewer is gliding through interstellar space, gradually passing through bands of radio waves, first very old signals from the early 20th century, then becoming gradually more current as one came nearer and nearer to the Earth. The most impressive aspect of all this was the amazing visuals of galaxies, star systems, planets of our own system, etc, as Earth was approached.

I don't use Windows much anymore except for games. Internet and email is exclusively on BeOS or Zeta, and I've just begun using the new SeaMonkey browser/email client, which is based on the old Netscape/Mozilla platform, ported to run on Be. I am interested in the new Windows Vista, and wait to see how that turns out.

Beloved actor Don Knotts has died...
by TresHappy inrest in peace barney!
what is your favorite andy griffith episode?
-
gaiagirl
Don Knotts had a string of comedy movies in the '60s and '70s, which were shown on TV in later years. Remember "The Incredible Mr Limpet" (where he turns into a fish), or "The Reluctant Astronaut", or "The Love God", or some of the westerns with Tim Conway (The Apple Dumpling Gang)? I also enjoyed him during the "Threes Company" years.

Sexual or spiritual pleasure?
by greendawn ini always wondered in my life is it better to gratify sexual excitation or divert it away from its goals of gratification and use it to develop culture or expand awareness (knowledge) in areas of interest?
or is it too frustrating to do that?
or is there no value in the belief that denied physical pleasure takes the form of a deeper, more sustained and profitable in the long term spiritual pleasure?

I know two people who have chosen to live celibate lives, as a result of a series of bad relationships. They do appear to be happier than when they were in the bad relationships, but not as happy as they would be in a good relationship. In neither instance do they appear to be more "spiritual" than anyone else, although THEY may think they are.

A Kingdom Hall in Corpus Christi, Texas was burned sometime during the late '80s. Someone removed the hinge pins from the front doors, entered and piled a large amount of literature on the floor, then poured gasoline on the literature and lit it. The fire department arrived in time to prevent the entire structure from being consumed, but as it was, repairs, including a new roof, took months. The congregation had to meet at a special time in another hall. I wonder where Jehovahs holy spirit was at the time?

That sounds like "Life of Brian", with Graham Chapman as Brian? One of the funniest movies I've ever seen.
