Looking for input on the "Rapture" doctrine...
by Jamelle insaw a documentary on tv this weekend about it.
have heard about the "left behind" series of books that deal with this belief.. one thing that caught my attention about the belief in the rapture was that it seemed very dark.
it seems to focus more on the scary things that are talked about in revelation than the message of peace and love that i admire in the teachings of christ.. the other thing that bothered me is that it seemed similar to the witnesses in that you have to be "saved" or you are going to die.

I need to lose weight. but HOW?

Drink WATER between meals to help reduce hunger. You should carry a water bottle of at least 1/2 litre around with you, and preferably drink its entire capacity at least twice during the day. A lot of what people perceive as hunger is actually thirst.

Do the Original books of the Bible still exist?

' today.. one thing, during our discussion that she brought out was that she had actually seen first hand the original books of the bible.
i told her that the whole, unconditional, originally written scrolls books as first put down, 'pen to paper' as it was no longer existed.. she said she had seen them herself in israel and hence 'knew for certain that these bible books are from god!'.

The May 2006 National Geographic has an article about the "Gospel of Judas", and how it relates to other scriptural works used by early Christians. On page 89, there is a photograph with the caption "part of the Codex Sinaiticus, a Greek Bible from around A.D. 350 that contains the oldest surviving full New Testament."

I've was approached by a close friend once, and at the time, it seemed like an interesting idea. The experience was actually quite good, and we've remained friends, and repeated the "experiment" from time to time.

He's not a JW, but "Orgazmo" is a MORMON super-hero, and he's on DVD. Naughty, off-color, something to offend almost everyone, but quite amusing also.

Your frst ever computer

no doubt some here had some of the earliest home computers that came out such as the commodore 64. .
i bought my first one relatively late in 1997, it had cpu 200 mhz mmx, 2.3gb hard disk, 64mb ram, 2mb graphics card, modem 36k.

OK, my geekiness comes out. My first computer was a Commodore 64, which used an adapter to a tiny black and white television for a monitor. I used to play a text version of a game called "Zork". My next machine was a genuine IBM PS/2 386, and then a 300 Mhz AMD K6-2 machine purchased from Computer Renaissance (still have this one, although I don't often use it). Finally, I built my current machine, a 900 Mhz Celeron with 768 MB RAM, a 256 MB graphics card, and a 30 GB Western digital hard drive. This machine doesn't even have Windows in it, instead I dual boot with the Zeta operating system and the older BeOS system. Work is in progress for a new version of BeOS called "Haiku" and I am waiting for that eagerly.

The worst films you watched
by greendawn inwe often talk about the best films that we have seen but what about the opposite, what were some films that really disappointed you either at the cinema or at home watching them from a dvd (or vhs though that got outdated now)?
one film i found very boring was the "horse whisperer".

"Bad Girls", about four women in 1880's Colorado, who run a way from town after killing a man who is beating up on one of them. Good actresses (Madeline Stowe, Andie MacDowell, Drew Barrymore, and Mary Stuart Masterson), terrible movie. Another clunker was "Coyote Ugly".

The most exciting bit of news for me is that there is going to be a fourth Indiana Jones film! Yay! I wonder, though, since it has been SO long since the last film, will they get Harrison Ford to play Indy once more, or perhaps someone else?
