well, my mom is critically ill, i'm afraid.
she can't breathe, it's a constant battle, i don't know what to do.
Talesin, I am so sorry this is happening...so sorry to hear about your Mom.
Please go see your MOM....
I was 14 when my mom was admitted to the hospital...dying of cancer...I came home from school and was told she died....I couldn't believe it...
Blondie had a great suggestion, get a good neighbor or friend to go with you...Jw's will be nice to you if you have a "worldly"(tm) friend with you.
Please know that you are being thought of today....(hugs to ya).

hi, i have been lurking at this site and a few other jw or xjw sites in search of some clarity but i am just getting more confused...
my 15 year old daughter has been dating a 17 year old jw for about 2 1/2 months.
he seems like a very nice kid--very shy (he is just starting to talk around me now...still not too much to my husband).
Welcome to the board Concerned Mom!!!
Very interesting situation....and I am glad you are doing your research. Many have posted that the JW family doesn't sound quite right....I was raised as one and dating was NOT allowed till you were ready for marriage...but there are varying degrees of how a person or family chooses to live and can still be a JW...
Anyways....I want to recommend 2 books for you to read by Steve Hassan. They are: "Combatting Cult Mind Control" (JW's are not mentioned at all, but when he outlines cults...you would have thought he was talking about the JW's as well) and his 2nd book: Releasing the Bonds. Get your daughter to read these books as well.
I am happy to learn that your daughter is an honor student and has plans of being a pychiatrist, that is exciting!!!

just wondering, did any of you become hermit like after leaving.
i see many of you are able to carry on.
maybe with the help of non-jw family, etc.. but for me, i lost all family and i am having a hard time with acquiring friends, although i have many many aquaintances.
Yes....I am going thru it right now. Both my husband and I have been fading for a year now. Like the other posters have said, it is part of the process. It is an agonizing process, much like going thru a divorce....I am hoping one day that I will feel myself again.
jws say, "the apostates are miserable!!
".....do you feel miserable?
(i don't).
No....I feel quite "lost".......could be a transition thing....I don't feel like I fit in anywhere.
i went to the y last night just to relax and go swimming.
the y near my house is pretty clean and after 8 p.m., not very crowded.
i find it very relaxing to go work out, play basketball, go swimming and then sit in the sauna after a long shower.
Good point about the UN card!!! I hate the hypocrisy of the WTBS....Df us for a YMCA membership for health reasons...but they can have an NGO for 10 years??? (adulterate with the Wild Beast???)
hey all!!.

we are headed to paris tomorrow via train.
Glad to hear you both are having a good time in Europe....tell all a the bbq...we said "hi"

often, i speak to people who seem to have good jobs.
when i ask how they got that job, then they tell me that finally it came down to good contacts.. many jobs i had were also because of good contacts.
naturally, having a college or university degree is what it takes, but having contacts seems to be what opens doors.. so, how did you find your job, with help from an influencial person, or all by yourself?
I recently found a job by searching the "want ads" in my local paper on the internet.
It was an "open interview" for one day. I decided to go for the interview.... They recently called and offered me the job based on my "personality"...which besides my customer service skills, noted on my resume, is what got me my new job.
I relocated to this area 1.5 years ago...so nobody up here knows me...
