how many of you gave up a college scholarship to appear "spiritual"?
jt's thread about "homegrown lawyers" and the wtbs willingly sending certain ones to college started me thinking about that question.
i know i for one, relinquished that scholarship to show how "spiritual" i was at 18. .
Franklin...wow....what an example...she was 80...she is kicking!!!
I know it is not too late....I am just in a dismal stage right now...and can't make a decision...maybe it's because when I wanted to go, being a lawyer or a pyschologist seemed attainable.
Our budget won't allow for either studies....
I am just feeling a bit "lost" right now....

i miss his thoughts.
also leander has some very interesting threads.......who would you enjoy seeing posting more often??
A recent thread this week about who was a DO...revealed Maximus. I looked up his name and topics and wish he was still posting!!!

one of my kids was looking up "codes" for a ps2 game on ign.com this afternoon.

That's great for you jaredg....but I graduated from high school in 1975..........college was taboo if you wanted to be considered "spiritual".
No parents or the WTBS encouraged college............you were instead encouraged to drop out of school and pioneer.

i just got this article from my wife.
the jw in this article we used to be the best of friends, we worked and sweated together in the bethel factory for years making worthless books.
It is very upsetting to think I had to turn down a college scholarship when I graduated from high school to be looked upon as : "Spiritual" and serving Jehovah.
And now to find out that the WTBS sent many to college to get degrees.

last week, i took my vehicle to speedy because the brakes got squishy.
i had to leave it with them for the entire week while they fixed my problem.
they charged me $650, and i picked it up yesterday.

i am still having an ongoing conversation with a couple of jw's on my medical message board and when i commented about the requirement of a number of hours of witnessing, this is the response i got.
is she being truthful?.

This person is NOT being honest with you.
I was raised a JW and started reporting "time" when I was 10. If you wanted to be considered a "spiritual person" (how much you love Jehovah), the standard was always 10 hours a month. They figured 2 hours at week.
This number is especially enforced for those who wish to move up to being a Ministerial Servant and Elder.....
Constant Kingdom Ministry's (Used for the Service Meeting after the Ministry School) had a box where the national average was always shown. If your KH didn't meet up to the national average (sometimes 8 hours a month) a talk would be given to encourage more "time".
