Welcome
Sorry I don't live in Lousiana, but I wanted to welcome you anyways!!!
this is starting to remind me of my childhood.
of course, the plus side is that i grew out of most of it, but it was hell while it lasted.. jackson (our 8-year-old) had his tonsils and adenoids out the beginning of june, in an effort to help reduce the number of infections and viruses he's been getting.
he's allergic to a lot of stuff, most of which grows in texas (where we live), and we've tried allergy shots on two separate occasions which reacted badly on him.
Nina:
Sorry to hear that Jackson has been so sick!!! (and that I just saw this thread for the first time today)
I was 24 when I had my "only" child. I was young and full of energy.....The positives for being in your 20's as a parent.
My mom was 40 when she had me, I was the youngest....She was an excellent mother! I wouldn't have traded her in for a younger model at all!!!
By 40, her parenting skills had surely matured....and had a "lot of patience"....the only "down side" was I was the youngest, she had to work, and I had many siblings (kinda felt neglected)....
I don't think it is an age matter...it is "how well you do the job as a parent".....

well mike and i have set a date.
september 2005.. by that time we will have saved up $11,000 for the wedding (which will not be so expensive) and a honeymoon in rome!!!
i am so excited, i have never been on a plane or out of the country (except to canada which does not count since i live in maine).. we are very happy...we have known for a while we were going to get married, and our conversation evolved from:.
Congratulations....and much happiness!!!
well my fellow compatriots, since i haven't posted any topics lately of an interesting or fascinating nature (and probably never have in the past either); i just thought you might all like to know that yesterday i took the plunge and put a closure on my 4 decades of being one of them there jw's.
you guessed it...i went and got myself a tattoo!
just needed to share this important moment in history.
I think that is sooooooooo awesome!!!
When I was 41 I got a divorce...still a faithful JW.....I wanted a tattoo or a navel piercing!!! Well, do to pain issues, I picked the navel piercing!!!! I love it....there are a lot of kewl navel jewelry!!!
Then a couple years later I met a HOT, JW, also divorced...that after he got divorced...did get a tattoo. It is an awesome tat.....looks like a piece of art!!! (we have both been fading for a year now).
So, I have been kicking around a kewl tat that would be on the lower, mid section of my back...perfect place to be seen when I wear my cute little bikini...
So my question to you: How painful was it?????? Let me know...please!!!

i'm going through the required stuffies to buy a house.
actually, it's already mine, and posession date is at the end of september.
it's a great house, finished basement, 2 bathroom, 2 (or 3) bedroom, heated garage with a ceiling fan (the guy who owned it went through a divorce, i'm guessing he lived in the garage), nice back yard, fence, quiet neighborhood, i could keep going.. the bad thing is it's in my old congregation's territory.
lol...who says you have to answer your door?
Remember when we were in service and people "wouldn't answer their door?"
It's your house...enjoy it!!!

i know of so many jw women that wanted to find a "mate" in the "truth" but instead became "old maids waiting on jehovah"......did you find yourself or know of others that just "waited on jehovah" while nothing got done??
?
ok.......nobody laugh please....
I was divorced...for 1 year...but been separated longer than that...so basically "alone" for 1.5 years.....(after a 20 year marriage to a cheating JW)
I had dated some brothers with a ZERO rating...had "worldly guys" hitting on me right and left. Went to a D. convention and said my final prayer: I am moving to get on with my life...I will not make finding a "husband" my goal. However if it is your will for me to have a "husband"..please bring him to me......
A week later NOdenial walked into the place I worked............(we were both active JW's at the time too)......
We had an instant attraction........informal witnessed to each other.......he lived thousands of miles away...
Coincidence?????????
We got married 8 months later......
Started fading a year ago...........Interesting???
I have also prayed for studies as an active JW.....I received them......
When I was divorced I prayed to have enough money to live on..............I lived frugally...yet my needs were cared for...
So yes, I left a lot of things in Jehovah's hands and I was (somehow) taken care of: coincidence??? I am not sure...If somebody has the answer........please let me know.
