given that so many practises associated with christmas are blatantly christian in origin but christianity endorses spiritual self-flagellation/crucifixion, moderation, and enough "-isms" to make your eyes water, is christmas truly for fun?
i know that often there are few christian connotations attributed to it nowadays, in such a hedonistic and sensory society, but history is on record in showing that the whole baby jesus thing is definitely a christian element.
would any true hedonist today want to drink such a mixed cup (potentially of poor-grade wine)?

Being raised a JW the ONLY time that was special was the Memorial. Which is a very serious event.
I remember one of my brother in laws saying that we as JW's have NO reason to get together as other families in the world do (at least the holidays give them a reason to go visit)........sad isn't it?

I agree.
Barbara is a very kind person and I have met her personally. I am offended at the unkind comments many are making about her and they should be ashamed for making them.
Didn't we learn anything from leaving the JW's?
Many have left the JW's because of not being shown love, and many still don't show love by those unkind comments.

I think that answer will vary with each poster.
For me, when my kids are out, I will breathe easier.
IF we were to relocate, where nobody ever knows we have had a history with the JW's, could help keep that history where it should be: in the past.
