From the draw close to Jehovah book in chapter 11 paragraph 10 it says this:
10 To find out why God allows suffering, we need to think back to the time when suffering began. When Satan led Adam and Eve into disobeying Jehovah, an important question was raised. Satan did not call into question Jehovah’s power.Even Satan knows that there is no limit to Jehovah’s power. Rather, Satan questioned Jehovah’s right to rule. By calling God a liar who withholds good from his subjects, Satan charged that Jehovah is a bad ruler. (Read Genesis 3:2-5.)Satan implied that mankind would be better off without God’s rulership. This was an attack on Jehovah’s sovereignty, his right to rule.
As a JW I of course accepted this. Today I thought of the story of the Tower of Babel and looked it up in the bible. Here is what it says in Genesis 11:
5 Then Jehovah went down to see the city and the tower that the sons of men had built.6 Jehovah then said: “Look! They are one people with one language, and this is what they have started to do. Now there is nothing that they may have in mind to do that will be impossible for them. 7 Come! Let us go down there and confuse their language in order that they may not understand one another’s language.” 8 So Jehovah scattered them from there over the entire face of the earth, and they gradually left off building the city. 9 That is why it was named Baʹbel, because there Jehovah confused the language of all the earth, and Jehovah scattered them from there over the entire face of the earth. Now Satan said according to JWs that man would be better off without God. Doesn't the Tower of Babel prove that was true? Jehovah discovered man could accomplish anything they wanted and so he scattered them throughout the earth and confused their language?

Related to the UN issue, if I had known at the time it would be taken down I would have saved the link, but it used to show how each NGO was fulfilling their obligation to the UN on their web site. You could click a link for the WTBS and it took you to a link of an article about eleanore roosevelt. It had been submitted by the watchtower as a way to "promote" some type of NGO requirement and keep their membership. The article was in the awake. In the time period of when the Watchtower was an NGO member there are multiple articles that can be found related to the United Nations and activities they have participated in. None of the articles were condemning them as the disgusting thing or even prophetic in nature but merely reporting on their activities. Something they had to do to continue being an NGO member. They got caught with their hand in the cookie jar and immediately terminated their involvement.
It really is very simple as they were now apostates for their involvment. In 1979 they printed an article about just being a member of the YMCA. Here is what they said. In the January 1, 1979 Question from Readers:
"In joining the YMCA as a member a person accepts or endorses the general objectives and principles of the organization. He is not simply paying for something he receives, such as when buying things being sold to the public at a store. (Compare 1 Corinthians 8:10; 10:25.) Nor is his membership merely an entry pass, as when a person buys a theater ticket. Membership means that one has become an integral part of this organization founded with definite religious objectives, including the promotion of interfaith. Hence, for one of Jehovah’s Witnesses to become a member of such a so-called “Christian” association would amount to apostasy."
Clearly just being a member was enough to be considered apostasy whether you participated in interfaith activities or just swam in their pool. Does anyone actually think if you joined the YMCA, got caught, and just quit when you were caught it would have been "OK"? Of course not, you would have been disfellowshipped for apostasy. Yet when it comes to the organization, there is always a double standard.

@afrikanman in my opinion it is only in the interest of the watchtower to take this higher. Candice has seen the payouts as well as the judgements whittle away from her favor as time goes on. In this case the watchtower has been held accountable but in a much lesser degree than originally ruled. If the watchtower wanted to try and reduce their payout to her, then it would be in their interest to appeal -

@Heaven and that same statement validates their database as acceptable, which was one of the big arguments against them. -

This will be viewed as a victory by almost all JWs. The court ruled that the only real problem was the supervision during field service. A jw will say that's a congregation problem and not an organization problem. Easily they will blame imperfect elders. Also this ruling more or less upholds their database as legal and keeping it a secret is ok.
I posted awhile ago that these lawsuits won't do much harm to the wtbs and I still think that. This case especially was going to bring them to their knees many thought. Don't be surprised when this very thing happens in the Lopez case.

This all just plays into the conspiracy new world order believers. There is no other currency system to be had. These videos produced don't offer any way to change the system just what's wrong with it. Money is fake, everyone knows it but it's the only thing the world uses to buy and sell. There will be a future financial "collapse" because history shows that's what economies do. The evil bankers don't want a collapse anymore than the rest of us do. -

Recycled WTS beliefs
by Simon inwe all know the wts abandons and invents beliefs faster than apple can churn out new shiny stuff.
but have they ever abandoned a belief and later picked it up again?.
i remember many years ago we had one of those post-district-assembly review parts (part of the service meeting) where they were discussing some "new light".. there was some confusion about which was the "new" and which was the "old" and a semi-discussion ensued with people commenting.

The generations doctrine. In 1997 they had a footnote that said this:
So the recent information in The Watchtower about "this generation" did not change our understanding of what occurred in 1914. But it did give us a clearer grasp of Jesus' use of the term "generation," helping us to see that his usage was no basis for calculating-counting from 1914-how close to the end we are." Watchtower 1997 Jun 1 p.28
The overlapping generations teaching is calculated again from 1914.

They really could one day promote the trinity and call it something different and JWs would lap it up.
