For whatever reason I will play the powerball or megamillions when it’s over 500 million. It’s fun to dream with no real expectation.

Could this be the end of JWs? What are the consequences if it is?
by Teddnzo inmultiple very serious allegations against tony and then huge efforts to remove him from all pictures and videos, have to admit it doesn’t look good.. once the pennsylvania investigation becomes public knowledge and front page news it will be very very hard for 8 million pimis.. is it possible that this could be the largest problem the branch has ever faced?
larger than 1975, the overlapping generations or any other ‘test of faith’.
many will feel heartbroken and betrayed.

I will offer a completely different perspective and one I think is more likely. First, IF the allegations turn out to be true JWs will see the removal as a very positive thing. In Jehovahs organization even a GB member that has done wrong will be removed and disciplined. Further proof that Jehovah will always keep his organization clean. Any argument or point to the contrary will be null and void. -

Are we living in the LAST DAYS?
by Fisherman inare we living in the prophetic last days that will climax into armageddon?
if this is true then how long should it take?
as jw saw it, wt compared timing to within a generation using 70 ad as a parallel.

If as a JW you believe that there are "Last Days" then you should objectively analyze your own beliefs. Analyze why they keep going on and the end hasn't come after so many warnings of how close it was. That's when I decided to look into 1914. Once I saw why 1914 was wrong, it was very easy to understand why the last days just keep going and going. The beginning was wrong, so no doubt the end would be wrong. But as a JW you aren't allowed to do this work and then tell anyone. So you're stuck defending a belief that you didn't come up with, nor do you have the authority to change. You have to wait for time to change it for them. As time progresses I believe the Last days for JWs will be moved into the future and 1914 will be renamed as the beginning of pangs of distress. Time will tell.

I was born in so I never had the opportunity to know anything else. My regret doesn't come from knowing its wrong but the lost opportunities I had. School was miserable because I couldn't participate in anything. I couldn't have friends. I spent my weekends at meetings and field service. There was no ambition to do anything because the end was so close. It's the lost life of my younger years. I learned TTATT in my early 20s. So I missed out on what should have been some great years. I still hung around forever a decade before I quit.

Chat GPT and the bible
by StephaneLaliberte ini just used chat gpt to find scriptures easily and, wow... should i still be a jw, i would have been able to create talks in seconds with that thing.
consider the following question: .
when was jesus accused of violating the sabbath?.

How do you get access to chat gpt? And will it automatically use gpt 4?

neutrality
by enoughisenough ini had a thought about neutrality...how we were never to take sides on political issues, say by voting.
how does that square with the letters we were asked to write to various lawmakers in countries-not too many years ago we were ask to write to russian officials.
i wonder if there is to be a letter writing to norway.

Its easy to claim "neutrality" when the hard/bad stuff is handled by someone else. Hitler, JWs were neutral! Meanwhile if everyone in the world had taken that same stand, the nazi party would rule the world. JWs have freedom of religion, because someone fought for it and got it for them. They are unable to see this.

Prediction of Watchtower in a Few Years
by Foolednomore inkingdom halls will be the thing of the past.. conventions (mini assembly halls will still be going on) but will charge for attending and parking and always a donation.
elders will play a much smaller role since csa.
cart preaching will replace door to door.

@fisherman, i don’t think the gig is up at all. Religious belief comes and goes as far as importance. A major event in the world can drive people back to religion. There are probably thousands of inactive JWs that still believe, but don’t have the desire to do the work. All it takes is something big and they flock back. I think humans today prefer the dumbed down version of the religion. Tell me what I need to do, not something complicated that I need to know. Meetings, field service, a quick personal study, and they’ll do it. And this is coming from someone who does believe JWs are a man made religion.

Why would it fade away? EX JWs predict the end of the organization as fervently and incorrectly as JWs predict Armageddon.

why are we interested in what is going on in the JW
by enoughisenough infor the most of us, we have left the jws...and even though we are no longer jw, many of us are still interested in their beliefs, doctrines and practices as currently practiced.
i was trying to sort out in my mind why i still care about what they are doing.
i think the answer to that is a hope that something will develop in the jws that will wake up a lot of others, and selfishly, a lot of my friends.

@fisherman I understand you’re a believer, i don’t think you would give that same latitude of “not corruption” to inexcusable behavior of other religions.

JWs will be here long after us. Wait for a major event in the world like 9/11. People will flock back to the Kingdom Halls out of fear. Trends stay the same until they don’t. Eventually the numbers will trend back up for new JWs. Door to door will always be a part. Certainly they will change to try and adapt to the way society works such as using tablets and phones while preaching. Otherwise no major changes until they decide to move up the start of the last days.
