I was a born in and even before the Generations teaching change in 1995 I questioned why God would allow all of this build up for mankind to destroy it. When they changed it in 1995 I was a young teenager and new then and there something was wrong. It gave me the green light in my own mind to look into it. Freeminds.org was the first apostate web site I ever visited. From then on I knew it was all just another religion. No real shock or anger, I just knew it was nothing to be excited over. -

I read this thread and laughed. Not to make fun but I could have made this same post with the title, I don't go to any meetings but still give this info. The one thing I disagree with is that the gb ever had control of young ones. I was raised a witness and all my friends got in trouble and left and partied and did what they want. The generation of kids before me who were teenagers and early 20s when I was only 5 and 6 years old were leaving and doing whatever they want. There is nothing new with young people there.
I would like to add one more bit of inside info for everyone else. The gb are going to try and save money and print as little as possible. They want to encourage everyone to download the publications instead.

I have said what I think is necessary on the topic. Fact of the matter is no matter how many deaths occur in the future due to gun violence, those who are pro guns will only care if their is a threat of losing their guns. I don't get it and never will. When the next mass shooting occurs, I won't debate you all on what should happen. I will congratulate you on keeping your guns, since that is all that matters. -

So if you're against gun control we are now back to doing nothing....terrorism isn't going away and will always be around, why do we try to stop it then? Why have no fly lists? Why try to thwart plots, break up cells? Why do anything? -

He isn't right at all, of course they can't get them all, but that's just saying well it's too big of a task, so let's do nothing. Millions of guns could be taken off the streets. Ammunition could not be bought to use the guns anymore. Over time there would be less and less bullets to use. This is a major problem that requires major changes. It requires a massive undertaking. But to say it's too big to do anything about is saying, sorry about your luck to all the future massive killings.
We will never stop all murders, or rape, but does that mean we don't have laws against them? Does that mean we don't try to stop or prevent them?

cappytan, that's the same thing that is said every time something like this happens. Ban forks, ban cars. Why not bring something constructive to the discussion? If it were up to you, nothing would ever be done about it? -

I am corrected, I was wrong about the automatic weapons, I need to fact check. I'm still 24 hours removed from looking into all of this. The hand guns being used I think supports banning guns altogether. -

JeffT that's why I personally support a total gun ban. Mass shootings are often by high powered automatic weapons, but more deaths are caused by hand guns amongst all occurances.
whether this is terrorism or not is in fact relevant. Since if that is the case, everyone will want to do something about it. But when Americans massively kill Americans with guns, no one cares. It's almost as if, as long as someone from another country isn't doing the killing, we won't worry about it. Events like these are terrorism in my opinion, whether they are Isis related or not. Even in this instance the perps were American citizens who at this point have reported to have bought at least one gun legally.

Adjusted knowledge I agree with a gun ban and know it would take many years to have full affect. Every mass shooting that takes place and nothing is done is just allowing it to go on longer. I personally don't own guns and yesterday morning had no real feelings on the matter. You could have put me in the I don't care and head in the sand category. But possibly watching it unfold and seeing the carnage live on television hit home with me. It really bothers me that after sandy hook that pro gun people really don't care about what's going on as long as they get to keep their guns. And if it's all guns or no guns, they pick all guns and accept more massive shootings as acceptable in order to keep their guns. I just don't get it. -

well at least that's a start. So while disagree with total gun control and saying it won't fix it, which I have said multiple times it won't stop it altogether, at least you did offer something. I didn't say I have the answer, I said I am offering a solution and repeatedly asked those who disagree with my solution to offer there own.
So I think you said we need to focus on what the cause of the people wanting to do this with perhaps some sort gun control. I take that to mean, focus on mentally ill perhaps? Out of curiosity what version of gun control do you suggest?
As a nation we can't just say guns are our right and ignore the problem. How many massive shootings would it take? Are endless mass shootings acceptible?
