Probably only publishing stats online so they can make adjustments to the # on the fly and not have to worry about print copies floating around proving the change.

Over 300 DFed apparently went to a northern U.K R.C!
by Isambard Crater inthat's what i've been told by a family member (elder) who went to one of the regional conventions in the north of the u.k lately, who told me the 300 or more disfellowshipped who returned to jehovah by attending show that the end is so close, just like the final talk says..

Is it true that in the U.S. you cannot attend a DC if you don't have a badge? Do the require bag searches now in U.S.?
So tired of reading random numbers or quasi "facts" without annual metrics and sources. I agree it would be difficult to gage from past experience who was who at these events. I know of some DF'd who attended for very reason to see their families and re-establish some contact or to ease tension.
This will be my 3rd summer free of DC in over 20 years.

Rookie exJW Question
by Phoebe ini was wondering if someone could help me with a question.. i am a rookie exjw, i only left the organization 4 months ago and everything i've discovered (un/arc/malawi/mexico etc) i've only discovered in the last few months so you can image it's been a huge shock to me especially after after 50 yrs!.
every time i think i've heard everything, something else pops up.. now i've come across a youtube video that mention tv evangelizer jimmy swaggart and the watchtower.
i remember jimmy swaggart from the time i lived in the u.s.a and i remember the scandals with him and prostitutes etc.

Phone call with a disfellowshipped relative
by Jules Saturn inso i call my grandfather who has been inactive for several decades and he's at vacation in puerto rico.
the conversation is normal, we talk about how he's doing down there and how i am doing.
then he tells me that my cousin who i haven't seen in 5 years, is with him and asks if i would like to speak to him; i said yes.

It's good therapy to do those things that you had cognitive challenges with in past, if now you recognize that those actions were positive. lPerhaps you can call again soon and check in. Maybe you can even video chat.

My Introduction
by Ray Frankz inthis is my first post and i'm feeling like i'm doing something bad big time!
i know on my mind it isn't, but the feelings are less manageable.. well, since i'm still a jw it's better not to give too much info, but i'm from brazil.. i've grown-up in the religion and practicly all my family, my closest friends and my girlfriend are loyal jws.
i used to be a regular pioneer but i still have a service privilege on my congregation.. i've had questions about the teachings of the wt since i was 10, but naturally i always pushed it away as it were "questioning the holy organization".. i started a friendship with some people in a course i took and we talked about a lot of subjects.

Welcome to the forum and to the freedom to share your thoughts, doubts, discoveries and progress. So many things tripped me up that seemed dishonest and hypocritical about JW organization that finally I HAD to face the facts and deal with them. Truth doesn't change nor does it need to be sheltered by a lie. It will always find its way to the surface.
Some of the issues that triggered it for me:
- NGO membership and alignment with United Nations
- Investment in Raytheon (defense)
- YMCA membership issue vs a vis NGO
- Much of the Revelation Book by JW that claim WT events fulfill Bible prophecies.
- Tithing - used to be proud of fact we don't pass the hat so to speak until recent changes with the swipping of deeds, deposits and surreptitious implementation of passive aggressive pressure for congregation and congregants to commit to monthly "commitments to Jehovah" for a certain level of contribution.
- Lack of love shown by their regular preaching of judgement amongst the congregation of any suspected of being spiritually weak and encouraging distancing from these ones, including natural family members who may not be JWs or are "weak" JWs. This really was the breaking point for me when I really listened and heard these directives from the platform to my family and my Bible studies. Could not support this and was a victim of this directive. It did not motivate me to be "stronger" but made me feel rejected, somewhat dejected, then angry at the shallow reaction to just preemptively shun without knowing anyone but just making assumptions of their spiritual strength....
- The organization fosters a kind of Darwinian spirituality, so-to-speak, as a survival of the fittest
- Boasts of not using titles of priest, etc. but revels in labels reflecting a competitive, hierarchical, caste-system - Pioneer, "Special" Pioneer, "Active" Publisher vs. "Inactive" Publisher, etc.
Hope you find a peaceful balance that brings you and your family joy.

Good review for me. Let me know if I could require that my husband be in the room with me though he's longer inactive than I.
Thank you

So sorry to hear ablut your daughter. Hope you all receive peace and justice.
For various reasons over last decade or so, all 11 in my family are now out. My immediate family and I were the remaining holdouts and still a bit sticky.
Welcome!

after a few weeks the sister called and when mom told her my sister said but i love your my mother.

It seems new to me or maybe I'm just taking things different now. My take is that inactive ones are to be assumed as wrong-doers and pre-emptively shunned as if DF. That seems way more intolerant and bully like than what I heard last xouple years and that started me to awaken faster.
