Consequences of staying on the recommended Hotel list
by Samaritan At the Well ini wanted to share an experience i had and see if anyone else had encountered this same matter.
we always tried to make an extra effort to ensure we stood on the approved hotel lists when going to our special day conventions or district conventions or what they now call regional.
we use to stay many nights a year and i would save up my hotel points to use at a later time.. i remember checking in at popular chain hotel and asked the hotel clerk how many points would i earn for the 3 night stay?

I am so sorry to hear of the pain you are going through.
i read you have been to counselors. Have you tried group therapy for abuse victims? Not sure where you live. I had experience with abuse and found support and help via Haven House. It was free and very helpful for my mental and emotional state at time. There is likely also online help forums for victim support.
Once you get a bit stronger, I urge you to get more strategic: record conversations, video if possible or have witnesses. Keep email file. Document. If this person is abusing you, Jehovah will understand. A liar is being aggressively strategic and you must be fully prepared to defend and protect yourself. If you are not strong enough to do this on your own, get good help.
You must guard your wellness on all levels. Work on rebuilding your healthy life. You already stated that you cannot live in same situation again.....so decision made. Now you must adapt best you can to new circumstances. Be prepared for more changes to come as the situation unfolds.
You are valuable and worthy of being treated with dignity and repect. Love is just the other side of respect in my book. Synonymous to different degrees.
It's okay to visit other halls during those or any talks....less eyes on you. Jehovah knows your heart and the situation even if elders (only humans). This is a shocking reality for you and you need to process.
Build support system of ones who believe in you, value you, cherish you, will be there for you. Learn to tolerate the rest and not be too concerned.
Take care. Don't be afraid to read by the way. Truth can withstand any challenge.
Peace

Becoming officially inactive
by All for show ini don't want to turn in my token time anymore.
it's only a few hours counting what we do with the kids.
i don't want it counted for their skewed statistics- or to just for the sake of doing it.

I faced same wall end of May and chose not to turn in time and started visiting other halls (visiting actually came first and the reactions hastened my awakening). When SO asked for time finally, I simply stated, "I have nothing I want to report at this time." I was not lying that I had no time but stating I had nothing I WANTED to say. He focused on "no time," acted very shocked but only stated he understood how prepping for move was likely taxing my time. I rarely visit that hall now and he and other elders keep it light and shallow so far.....and for me that is a good thing.
All the vest to you and your family. You have way more pressure with family all around so you may need to find justifiable reason to visit other halls- e.g. Learn a new language, talk with a friend other side of town and go to meeting that side of town that week. It helped me mentally/emotionally to have a legitimate, real reason to not be at MY hall so I could begin separation and it really helped me.
Also, I have not officially moved my cards. My cards are still at old hall and I think I will let them stay there. i can visit around in new town without being targeted by elders for being on official list, and I am going less often now. I guess I needed to do this slow versus

Roll call of those of us stuck in for our spouse or whos spouse is still in!
by BU2B ini just wanted to get a feel for how many here have awakened to ttatt but are still carrying on some jw activities to pacify them and keep the peace.
also trying to hear from those who have left, but whose spouse has stayed in the wt and in the marriage.. for me it comes down to my own mental anguish.
i am mentally tortured by attending the meetings, yet i feel compelled to because my wife would kill me with her personality if i had her drag 2 small girls by herself there.

I read bits and pieces of myself and my husband in these posts....
husband long inactive but believer and supporter of me to go and continue but now is willing to read and learn a bit more lately but cautiously. He likes me going with kids for stability.
i am now inactive last six months and no more Bible studies - turned over. I still go on Sundays but to different halls...less pressure and keeps me in loop that I feel some need still to have if even infrequent. It's a process. I'm feeling better; less anxious, more confident.
If you still love your wife, let her know...show unconditional love. She may be going through baby blues on top of all the financial pressure, etc. Sounds like a pressure cooker. She doubly will probably hold onto what makes her feel comfortable and safe right now.if she can find comfort elsewhere, it may ease her grip on KH.
Peace to you all

by BluesBrother inthe subject of the study was jesus resurrection .
my post is not about the subject and whether or not that can be believed in.
millions of christians do and it is not my place to debunk religious faith.

It seems articles are becoming more and more simplistic and full of unproven claims with poor reasoning and few if no references.
i would love to tune up my skills and courage enough to say something today about this article.

Still pointing your Finger when having a Rafter in your eye?
by DocHouse inyes- everyone has faults and makes mistakes; an organization even more so.. yet, you ignore all the fingers pointing at you.. many here have no faith.
many here go to churches who lie about everything biblical; look at x-mas!.
but at least we know god and christ and try to live up to their name!.

New light for me often means new theories. Many hypotheses have proven false thus they keep changing hypotheses but really just they are just theories as many churches.

Kids and I are reviewing this right now .....we can't help but say, "what???" Par. 14 claims we have proof but offer none. I asked kids if we can find proof. This is actually good for us to review critically. We are also surprised to read about dead person thrown in Elijah's grave. We wondered if that caught on for a while and was unsuccessful with any other dead ones they threw in. Were there some they chose to not throw in as they didn't want to resurrect them. Maybe they guy was just near death and the fall jolted him back to activity. This will be interesting to see what evidence if any ones may "research" to really answer or will they be satisfied with empty claims.
i asked kids to see if they can find unique answers that prove JWs have truth since all christians can claim that their preaching proves they are directed and protected by God/Jesus.

My Story: from JW Elder to Born Again Christian to Agnostic
by passwordprotected ini first posted here on 3rd june 2008. at the time i was an elder, appointed the previous october, i was 36 and i was a born-in.
at the time i'd become disillusioned with the society due to the governing body's letter explaining why the book study in private homes was being abolished.
april 2008 saw me start questioning this decision, privately of course, and this eventually led me to this site, to jwfacts and to many youtube videos, all of which began to errode my faith in the leaders of the organisation.. in july 2008, having discussed my doubts with my wife, i attended the district convention, deciding to give the society one last chance to convince me it was the truth.

Thank you for your post. Very interestIng. I used to do yoga before my JW life though I would sometimes practice during....just too busy really. I am definitely going to add that component back into my routinenow. I eally like what you said about peace in not knowing....
i am sorry about your marriage not working out after 20 years and hope the kids are adjusting. That is a big adjustment for all of you. Glad you have a positice attitude. As a child of divorce and having gone through it myself long ago, I know it is tough and even tougher to deal with step families/parents later on.

Dear Humble and Inspired Bro -
i appreciate your intention. I'd like to point out that you come off as very judgemental. It appears evident from your opening that any who will not read or respond the way you want them to are losers to you and to Jehovah in your inspired undersatanding.
I couldn't get past your second paragraph before feeling way to annoyed to continue. I'll give it another crack later. Meanwhile, I'd like to remind you of the saying, "you catch more bees with honey than with vinegar."
