That was me . I asked a question if it were so? You have not been "Recruited" -you are still studying. Its been my experience( and I have been in more than six congregations) that the more financially well off witnesses usually gang together and any newbes that study with the congregation receive treatment acording to their financial status. If the newbee happens to be well off they are given the red carpet welcome by elders and the economically well off section of the congregation. (Not saying the others don't), but there is a glaringly obvious line that demarcates the treatment meted out to newbee-well-to -dos and the newbee-not-well-to-dos. Since you seemed so happy with the treatment meted out to you I wondered if you were of the former class.I was wrong. My assumption was wrong . My sincere apologies.

Please remember that every JWis a part of a herd. Any deviance from their twisted eschatology's beaten path is a red signal that Satan and his demons are at work through the deviant. And needs must be reported to the elders. 99.8 % of the will rat you out. I speak from personal experience. If you aim to fade, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Trust no one in the herd. It's not that they are untrustworthy but fear no matter how irrational-which is the key to control among all cults- is what propels them to run to mama. As for the .02 % -unless you sre 500% repeat 500% sure they can be trusted do not even smile a greeting by mistake. Just to drive home the point -if you say to yourself " I'm 100% sure he is a genuine friend and I can trust him" you are in a very dangerous zone. The test is not" beyond resonable doubt" but Beyond even a SHADOW of doubt

I'm not so sure. The Catholic church survived a similar cult like structure during the dark ages and subsequent centuries. Their survival was based on numerous makeovers and of course "miracles" and absorbtion of paganistic beliefs along the line . Much of their survival was dependent on changing their strict stance on many issues. Since the WTBTS is structured along similar lines, I'm betting they are going to dum down their bigotry when the going gets tough just to survive. Like the Catholic church they will begin to "evolve" a strategy to encourage their folowers to stay in. Jw's, largely, have a cult mind set .A few concessions here and there will win them over. Alternatively, a belief of theirs might coincide with a political reality - say a country or two banning religion -making it an exactitude which might do the trick. You can see from a recent post on the forum that congregations are lauding the new"donation" arrangement and fully believe that the FDS has their well being in mind.

Hello Stumbline,
I sympathize with how you feel. We all go through a period of self examination where we feel we are worthless. And drifting. And guilty for no apparant reason. Thats the collateral damage that accompanies giving up the former lifestyle within the cult. And it needs to be sucked up.
Heres a poem that helped me so much that it became my pillar, my backbone. Also it made a loner out of me. Standing alone makes you the strongest.I hope you like poetry. Please read and I hope it strengthens you.
Rudyard Kipling
IfIf
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools;If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on";If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!
