Why go back to the Old Testament?

why do jws insist on still quoting from the old testament to back up some of their wacky ideas?

such as on blood, beards, abortion, tattoos, etc.

surely if the mosaic law code was nailed to the torture stake all of its parts were cancelled.

do you guys have any advice on dating worldly people?

how do i not freak out during my first date with my boyfriend?

how can i avoid being awkward?

My biggest regret is not taking up the opportunities offered to me when I was young and single. That way I might have come into my marriage with experience and fewer hang ups and so would be a better lover for my wife.

(It's been a few years now so I am improving, but DAMN my wife has had to be patient with me!)

I'm thinking of you and your awful situation. Stay strong! Reading your post it did occur to me that you are now in the perfect place to start a "Fade". You could start staying home for some meetings because of the stress of people judging you, but say you'll listen in (but don't!). Gradually break up the routines that they try to impose on you. Never volunteer for anything, be "sick" on ministry mornings. There are lots of posts on here about how to fade!

I had sudden pangs of anxiety and fear for years after I broke free. The armageddon fear took ages to go away particularly. It was reading up on the religion that helped me, and reading up on high control religions generally. If you watch some youtube videos on the Mormons or Scientology you'll see how many similarities there are to how they work. Then the JW's become just another high control religion and their power to control or cause fear fades away.

What JWs do right, and what they do wrong.

so tonight i'm going to be having a chat with my brother and hes asked me what my thought are on the above question.. i could be wrong with what im about to say but i do think the door to door ministry is one thing they are doing right.

i think the cart work on the other hand is wrong.

just today i saw two sisters sat next to their cart with people going by.

You could say that door to door ministry was right, but surely that would only be correct if the message was true. Door to door ministry that teaches a message that is false is less Christ-like than doing nothing at all.

Jehovah's Witnesses are based on a lie, led by people who lie and who have a message which contains lies. To be at all Christ-like you cannot have anything to do with the JW's.

Favourite female heroes in film ...

... well, obviously not rey (daisy ridley) from the latest star wars films.

she's a complete mary sue.

but, before hollywood tried to force sjw propaganda down our throats, there were lots of powerful, legit female characters in film.. here are some of my favourites .... ripley (sigourney weaver): i though this character was great.

Just because an argument can be made for other characters in Star Wars being Mary Sue's doesn't mean that Rey is NOT a Mary Sue.

In fact Rey is a classic Mary Sue. Young Anakin is a massive Mary Sue. The two statements are not mutually exclusive.

Therefore the fact Rey is female has zero impact on her being a Mary Sue. Her youth is a factor. That combined with the lack of back story, training montages, build-up and foreshadowing all add up to the result: Mary Sue.

I second the vote for Furiosa in Mad Max Fury Road. There wasn't a single second in the film where the fact she was a woman was highlighted. She was just a badass who happened to be female. I loved that! So often in stories the girl defeats the bad guy for the sole purpose of making the bad guy's defeat more complete. Not only did they lose, they lost to a girl! There's none of that nonsense in Mad Max Fury Road

Another character is Sarah Conner in Terminator 2. In Terminator 1 she's a bit of a helpless princess who's only purpose is to be saved by the strong man, but that actually makes her character development better in T2 when she gone to the edge of madness to toughen up for the fight that's to come.

barbara anderson examined the rnwt revision of lev.5:1 and revealed the wtb&ts to be deceptive as to applying it to congregation members being required to "tattle" on their brothers to expose sin.

she shows that is just not so as lev.5:1 has nothing to do with tattling.

what questions could pimos ask elders, that elders would be unable to answer?

(thus buying time, because elder would need to "check with branch").

I was using a made up example of how they will use the data to look at general trends and then focus down on problem areas. It could be anything that they have data on. I have no idea what's for sale on their website, having never looked at it!
