Going To The Meetings To Give A Witness
by Brokeback Watchtower ine tricki've been tossing around the idea of perhaps going to a meeting in the future just to check things out i'm in no hurry this could happen months or years from now.
i would like to give them a witness about some of the problems i see as a newly interested person checking things out.
maybe just hanging back after coming to the meeting late and casually talking with people as a non pushy interested in what going on after some internet search led me to jw.org.

I can see myself going into a Kingdom hall again for my mother's funeral, but that will be the last time. My JW siblings are all younger than me so I'll be safely dead before them.

Who is The Lord?
by JW Answers inthe jehovah's witnesses believe that only the father is lord god, however by searching the scriptures we can identify that there are more than one person in the godhead, and the lord jesus as well as the holy spirit are lord.. for those who are interested in learning, feel free to watch this new video..

I disagree. Past, present and future are all 100% time. The past was once the future and the present. The present was once the future and will be the past, The future will be the present and the past. Each one is 100 percent time all together at the same time. So how is that a convoluted illustration? Again, which word did you not understand.
This analogy is equivalent to saying Cofty, Onager and TTWSYF are human, therefore, they are one.
Past. Present and Future do no have any agency. You cannot talk to time. Time can't turn water into wine. For your analogy to work it would have to have 3 individuals that exist at the same time and yet are one individual and, as you can see from my example above, that is absurd.

God, Religion and Semantics
by Onager inthere is a slight possibility of one of my jw relatives coming to have a read of this forum, which has made me really excited and endlessly hopeful, but also worried that they might read some of my angry comments from back in the day and throw their hands up in horror.
i've also been thinking about the book by christopher hitchens "god is not great" recently and i think there are similar defences to be made for both.. there is a topic that i started called jehovah god is not real and there are also comments that i have made where i have said that jehovah god is cruel, stupid or even evil.
i appreciate that this sounds like a personal attack on god, just as hitchens' book "god is not great", sounds like an attack on god, but the truth is that they're not.. the title of hitchen's book: "god is not great" is (deliberately) a negation of the islamic phrase allahu akbar "god is greatest" and my topic on this forum called "jehovah god is not real", was in direct response to another poster's topic "jehovah god is real".

I'd just like to point out that most of the things we accept as true, comes second hand from other humans
That's absolutely true. None of us have anything even remotely resembling a true and accurate model of the world around us. Almost everything we hold true is an approximation or an anecdote. You accept as a fact that Polar bears live at the north pole and Penguins live at the South pole, But you only believe that because someone told you. Or, do you think you know what an oak tree is? You only have the vaguest idea! You could study oak trees for decades and not understand them entirely.
What we have, all anyone has, is a working model. The crucial difference is how people build those models. Simplistically you can split peoples model building approaches into Credulous and Sceptical, but there is a world of shading in both.
A Sceptic's model will have approximations and errors, but it's aim is to be robust yet adaptable. The model works, but if any part of it is shown to be wrong, it is taken out and replaced.
The Credulous model also works and is also full of approximations and errors, but the aim of the Credulous model is to preserve the model. New information that contradicts the model is rejected automatically.
The problem with the Credulous model is that it can come into conflict with reality. The beauty of the Sceptical model is that reality always wins.

Teenager Advice
by Wagurl inwhat advice do you have for a teenager that is being raised as a witness but not baptized?
everyone is pressuring her to get baptized how to avoid that till they are 18 and they are 16?
how to stay sane in a household of religion you donĀ“t believe in.

With respect I disagree with Sea Breeze's comment:
Eventually there is little real-world difference between whether or not you got baptized.
There is a world of difference if your parents / JW friends want to be able to find a loophole to still see you. If you're baptised then DF'd then that loophole is vanishingly small. If you are not baptised and then leave then that loophole is there for them if they choose to take advantage of it.

JW Answers, you appear to be trying to save people from the burning building that is the JW organisation by inviting them to jump into your dumpster fire.

I've also been thinking about the book by Christopher Hitchens "God is not Great" recently and I think there are similar defences to be made for both.
There is a topic that I started called Jehovah God is not Real and there are also comments that I have made where I have said that Jehovah God is cruel, stupid or even evil. I appreciate that this sounds like a personal attack on God, just as Hitchens' book "God is not Great", sounds like an attack on God, but the truth is that they're not.

In both cases it is not the God which is being attacked, but the claim about God.
Likewise, when I say something like "Jehovah God is stupid", I am not actually saying anything about God. After all, as an atheist, it would be weird for me to attribute any quality to a deity. What I am saying is that the believer's claim, if true, would mean that the God they are proposing is dumb.
This might sound like hair splitting semantics, but it's an important distinction. All Gods, and all information about their qualities and actions, are claims made by people. There is not one single God, Thor, Vishnu, Jehovah or whomever, for which there is a single piece of evidence which does not come second hand from a human being.
I don't know if God exists, I'd really rather like it if they did and there was some kind of purpose to this whole business, but I do know that every story of a personified deity is disproved either by internal inconsistencies in the claims, a lack of evidence or both.

The Strange Case of Don Decker on Unsolved Mysteries
by Tenacious ini know many members on this forum no longer believe in the christian god of the bible.
and we should all be respectful of each other's beliefs.
no one should be vilified for not believing or vice-versa.. though we all share one thing in common and that's falling victims to the vermin governing idiots.. going back thousands of years, our planet has experienced strange occurrences with many falling under the paranormal umbrella.

What is your opinion of the strange things that happened to this man named Don Decker?
My opinion is that none of the events happened as stated. My opinion is primarily based on asking "Why?".
Why, if demons are real, would they act in this way? Primarily, why would they manifest around one man, for a few days in 1983? Why not appear every day to thousands of people? If crucifixes have an effect on demons why don't we see fewer incidents of bad things happening to people who wear them? Why "Rain"??
