Someone should tell Putin not to ban them, just remove any tax exemption from them.
That would achieve his goal much more effectively.
interesting to read the reports from around the world.
i doubt many jws have read any of them.. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/russian-government-jehovahs-witnesses-extremist-group-lawsuit-supreme-court-a7634671.html.
russian authorities threatened to close jehovah’s witnesses administrative centre last march, when they issued a formal warning to the congregation that the “religious association will be subject to liquidation” if it failed to eliminate within two months the violations identified by the government as “extremist”.
Someone should tell Putin not to ban them, just remove any tax exemption from them.
That would achieve his goal much more effectively.
so all the jw's i know are practically wetting their pants in excitement over the russian letters they are sending out.
they seem to have this insane idea that putin's office will be pulled sky high with all these letters and they have this image in their imaginations of him having to open and read every letter (!).
also all the jw's i know have all put their name and address on the letter... which couldn't have any repercussions of course (!
I agree with tiki. I can't imagine a scenario where this has a positive effect on the situation.
· if religions were immune to division.
· if scriptures were immune to scientific errors.
· if religious leaders were immune to hypocrisy.
My feeling is that it developed this way:
1. No belief in gods
2. Animism
3. Polytheism
4. Monotheism
I believe that the first atheists would have appeared at stage 2.
"Zog say touch special stone, catch much mammoth. Me say Zog full of woolly rhino shit."
There has to be a concept of a thing before you can disagree with it. There would be no Fox hunt saboteurs without fox hunting.
newbie here.
reading forums and come across acronyms.
some are very obvious but one is not so far.
"Please leave the Almighty out of this. "
The Almighty what??
atheism = self defeating.
first may we define our terms.
the word atheism comes literally from the greek, alpha the negative and theos [for god], therefore “negative god” or there is no god.
They're not responding or defending their position are they? Just another drive by sensationalist Troll twat.
if they *were* still here I'd say that an argument that relies on your own special definition of a word is a bad argument.
If you reverse the OP's definition, so that Theists have absolute knowledge that god does exist then you:
a) Make faith impossible
b) Make all theists as omniscient as god.
i'm a new member so wanted to say 'hi'.
i live in the u.k, was born in, fell away as an unbaptised publisher, got baptised in my 30s for reasons i'm retrospectively unsure of, and lost my faith about five years ago around the time of the original a.r.c.
now, being unable to leave is making me physically, emotionally and mentally ill.. i have been visiting this forum for a couple of years and wanted to post my first message to see if anyone has attended, heard or watched the zone visit broadcast thing happening this month?
Hi Isambard Crater,
I'm also in the UK so I wouldn't have seen the broadcast yet.
I also wouldn't be seen dead inside a kingdom hall so that's a double whammy!
it's from 3 weeks ago.
my mum told me about it.
but is this real or fake?
From Snopes:
http://www.snopes.com/trump-turkey-pardons-reversed/
Like all content published by Real News Right Now, the story was satirical in nature, although the site does not include a disclaimer identifying its material fake news . However, the site’s “About” page includes several obvious indicators, such as its humorous claims that author R. Hobbus J.D. has received non-existent awards such as the “Oscar Mayer Award for Journalistic Excellence” and the “Stephen Glass Distinction in Journalistic Integrity.”
Also the last line is a dead giveaway:
"According to the insider, the body which serves to advise the Pope has a “friendly betting pool” whose odds-on favorite is “Kevin.”"
Sadly it's fake news.
i'll start: stilton cheese.. (it was a toss up between that and sweet pickled beetroot).. thank you folks..
My grandma's green bean chutney in a cheese sandwich made with a white bloomer and nice mature cheddar cheese.
OMG I can taste it in my mind now! My mum makes it now that grandma is dead, but it's not the same...
well new to me anyway, i'm sure someone smarter than me has thought of this before.
the next time i get asked the perennial (and tired old) question: “but you do believe that the gb are god’s channel of communication, the organisation he is using, don’t you?” or some variation thereof, i am going to reply with two verses and reason as follows:.
the matter to be established: have the gb of jehovah’s witnesses received divine appointment to act as god’s representatives and channel of communication on earth?.
"Good does not testify directly about them through the scriptures - an impossibility since they did not even exist when the scriptures were written!"
Of course it's not impossible for God! All he needed to do was get the bloke that wrote Revelation to add a bit that said:
"One thousand and nine hundred years from now, in the land over the Western sea, a group of men will arise, blessed by God speaking truth. Then they will change that truth many times and also, they will be strangely obsessed with your sexual activity. Obey these men as you would the word of God or they will break up your family bonds and cause great lamentation in the land."

Nazca lines?
also fake?
Oregon desert Sri Yantra?
Open your minds!
We just left a cult!!
Crop circles aren't fake and neither are the Nazca lines. They are real things... made by real people.
I left the cult due to developing critical thinking skills. When you apply those skills to claims such as crop circles and the Nazca lines are made by aliens, those claims collapse pretty fast.
