safe to say, if you walked up to any of the 8 million jehovah's witnesses on earth today and told them the.

governing body was a fiction, not only would they refuse to believe you--they'd consider you their immediate enemy!.

what if i told you jw's embrace a mental construct which is at odds with history?.

I noticed that for most JW's, logical reasoning will not do the trick for them. I tried with my partner and it often leads to heated discussions. Moreover, it is the social life they have in the organization that motivates them And most of them have a sense of fear for the Father. Add the 2 together, and you have the reason why hardly anyone will be motivated to leave the organization because of the many changes in doctrine etc. It does not affect them. They meet their friend every week (3 times or more), do things together, they trust each other and believe that the Father will be happy with them. They reason: the gb cannot be that wrong if 8 million people globally are joined together.

And yes, I can provide many valid, reasonable counter arguments but that simple will not do it. Until now, I would not know what the silver bullet would be......

a good source just just told me that at morning worship today that the governing body announced that a total of 1600 bethelites will be let get go and not transferred to warwich when the last property is sold in brooklyn and all kingdom hall building projects are on hold for at least a year so that all the focus will be on the preaching work.

lots of people commenting after the article about how it's proof of g#ds blessing.. so if jw.borg ever gets overtaken in the rankings does that mean the blessing has left the building?.

I believe the title is a bit misleading. The borg site (html pages) is available in over 700 languages apparently. Could be but I do not feel that is so amazing. YouVersion supports 799 languages and has over 1100 versions.

Others, like banks/institutions are only to serve their customers and would only have the languages available to serve these customers.

The sites states:

that is why they do this and they can because it is all done via almost free labor. In the company I word for, the main language of communications is English. Documents or publications are translated in some key languages (say some 25) but it is expected that everyone does have a knowledge of English.

My point: yes, it can be considered an achievement to have a website that can serve about all languages. It is not unique and not all contents is equally available in all languages.

Who am I to screw up their happiness?

that was the question to me tonight.

because of their beliefs they have a moral compass, a net work of friends and a support group.

they have what they believe is a loving god.

I was asked more or less the same question by my partner. My reply :because that is exactly what JWs are doing when they go door to door to tell people that their religion is wrong and that their lives are at stake. Every time they call a.door it could be an effort to change people regardless if that person is happy with his / her lifestyle or religion.

London Conventions 2015 - NO TWICKENHAM

just got news from a friend that yesterday a letter was read in their congregation announcing new locations for the regional conventions in london.. the main item was no twickenham in 2015.. their congregation is assigned to excel london (need to confirm since he was not 100% sure).

i will update this when i get more information tonight.. .

There was a change in venue in The Netherlands as well. The difference means around 325 km's more over 3 days. Say 60 cars in one congregation, means 19.400 additional km's or some 2600 euro additional cost. For only one impacted congregation!!!

Why not just cancel the assemblee for this year if suddenly the venue is not available...it saves a lot of money and hassle (and who knows, marriages...)

Demoted from elder to MS, anybody ever heard of this?

so a friend in a nearby hall told me their co came through, and in a hellish week of long meetings and inquisition overhauled the boe.

only one remains as elder, three were re-appointed as ms, and one, the cobe was deleted entirely.. two new elders were brought in as new secretary and cobe / watchtower conductor, respectively, and introduced to the congregation from the platform on sunday immediately following his second talk.

he reminded everybody of the authority he has and then named the new appointees.

May be it all happened because these elders have a history on record with children and as COs are now accountable a cleanup.might take place

it is not difficult for anyone who is beginning to study the bible with jws to see this and be utterly convinced of the matter.

even after learning ttatt i had a hard time departing from the idea that a centralized body of administration may have existed then and may need to exist now.
