  Funny (well. not funny actually) but the letter makes reference of abuse in other religious confessions but makes no reference at all to even one incident in their own organization. How creepy is that???

  Further, minors who are unbaptized publishers very often work with different adults, elders and ms alike.

  Lastly, why not simply comply? It seems they are afraid that in certain cases the certification will not be given....how scary is that ??

  I do voluntary work in Ronald McDonald house and I was obliged to submit a declaration of good behavior (meaning there are no restrictions for me to work in this environment. The declaration is provided by the Min. of Justice). I fully understand and had no objections.

  I really hope that one day a government declares this organization illegal because they cannot prove there are no pedophiles in their midst and as such is a danger to society.

  fractions is personal decision. I believe the whole blood acceptance is personal. Our lives are personal. We all are personally accountable for our actions.

  Further, this whole procedure will increase the stress levels for the mother-to-be and all around her. Incredible.

  So, if my boss asks me to decorate the Christmas tree but I am not obliged to sing songs to It (i.e. no act of devotion or ceremony), it is OK......

  If governments are actually tools of Satan (WT doctrine), then hanging a flag is supporting that tool and its master, right??? So, building a church because my company asks me to support the construction works, is all fine then as I am not doing an act of worship. Just carrying stones etc.....

  Hmm....nah... I guess I must be wrong ..... the WT cannot be that hypocritical.....can they??

  What is the Education Level of the Governing Body members?

  i would love to compile a list of the education obtained by the governing body members both past and present.

  can anyone provide any information to get me started?.

  it still amazes me they think they can translate ancient languages with an 8th grade education.

  My view, and of course, cannot prove, their bible was based on other translations, English translations. Most English native speakers could develop a bible using the available English bibles with some interlinear translations and there you go. Who knows, may be W & H have helped them. I cannot proof it but also I cannot see any evidence that their NWT's are translated directly from the available Hebrew and Greek texts. And because they keep everything a secret, one wonders why...what is there to hide with regard to a translation??

  Heb “his days will be 120 years.” Some interpret this to mean that the age expectancy of people from this point on would be 120, but neither the subsequent narrative nor reality favors this. It is more likely that this refers to the time remaining between this announcement of judgment and the coming of the flood.

  i’m sitting there in the kingdom hall just thinking how rich it is of the gbojw to preach about materialism when they have recently been evidenced to be using bro’s & sis’ contributions to the world wide work to travel business class!

  just that thought alone was leading me to read scripture while they were all engaged in the wt “study”.. however, then it came to paragraph 17 and i blurted / choked a little.

  the paragraph said that “we should not imitate the people of ‘the nations,’ who have no real faith in a loving heavenly father who cares for those who put the interests of his kingdom first in their life.”.

  Well said and reasoned.

  It got me thinking a bit: why the continued push to the rank&file to do more in the JW ministry? There is internet and with some clever promotions, JW dot org will attract far more people (initially) than all these house visits. Therefore, if spreading the JW message is the objective, internet is far more effective (and efficient).

  No, it is not about spreading their message but about membership. Members generate money. Money generates power. Power generates respect (in this world).

  Jesus never started an organization. He was not interested in the money He could generate, the power it would give Him. He was not interested to become King that way. He really was only interested to spread the good news.

  What a contrast with religious denominations / organizations (incl. WBTS) in this world.

  What crime should elders report?

  so, i am trying to get my head around what the right position of elders should be when they come across crime is.. i think i get the issuess around clergy confidentiality - and how that might potentially be breached when they talk about it to other elders, let alone the police.. but if people are saying that elders - or clergy of another faith should report crime to the police when it is confessed to the, then where are the boundaries.. so if someone says they should report to police on a confessed example of child abuse, that's one thing.. how about reporting to police consensual sex between a 19year old and 15 year old - which is statutory rape in the uk.

  how about criminal fraud if they come across it.

  assault on a congregant?.

  In my view it is simple. When an elder is made aware of a crime, he should tell the person that he is not authorized in this matter and that clergy confidentiality does not apply here. And then stop the discussion, tell the person to go to the police and if the person does not, tell the person that you are going to report him.

  It is like with hospitals and doctors. There is a medical confidentiality unless crime is involved (shot wound, child molestation or home violence etc). In such cases, hospital or doctor is obliged to report.

  Even if the law would not really oblige a clergy to report what is considered a crime, it should be his Christian conscience. But it all start with the clergy to say that the conversation is not subject to clergy confidentiality if the person is going to tell of a crime he committed.

  Unfortunately, many elders (WBTS and other religions) feel they are above the secular laws and even above the law of Christ and act as they are capable and serve as police officer, detective, judge, jury and...oh yes, clergy.

  In my view only the apostles will be on thrones (24 in total) . Other 12 for patriarchs. All others ? Somewhere but not on thrones. Can be heaven can be elsewhere. Just my view.
