Would the world be a better place without religion?
by pistolpete ini know what you’re gonna say---------everyone has a right to believe whatever they want.. but the question above is not about everyone’s right to believe whatever.. the question is very specific------will the world be a better place----without religion.
think for a while what the world would be like without any religion.. no conflicts between islam and christianity.. no conflicts between different sects of christianity.
(example; jehovah’s witnesses vs catholics).

Newly discovered Dead Sea Scrolls with the tetragrammaton within the Greek text
by dropoffyourkeylee inbig news from israel, some previously undiscovered dead sea scrolls have been found with portions of the ot in greek.
it says the name of god is included in hebrew letters within the greek text.. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/16/world/middleeast/dead-sea-scrolls.html.
"the new fragments contain verses from zechariah 8:16-17, including part of the name of god written in ancient hebrew, and verses from nahum 1:5-6, both from the biblical book of the twelve minor prophets.".

If you would find a WT magazine say 1000 years from now and the organisation did not exist anymore, or you would find their NWT. Would you know that the NWT has many words and verses defined in such a way to support a doctrine? Or would people say, well, it is a 1000 years old, must be somehow true or correct? So, why would we trust an old fragment if we do not know who wrote it, why it was written, was it a copy or an original etc? From an archeological perspective, it might be of interest (to generate funds from donors). But to consider these fragments as "true" and enlightening, I feel that is too much honor. It is still strange to write all names in Greek but you have no idea how to "invent" a Greek name for the tetragrammaton? And this tetragrammaton occurs over 6000 times? And the creator was not able to shed a light on these writers about His name?

by waton infor pimi pimo persons: give us one text that says those aspiring to everlasting life should not partake of the bread and wine.

Is Jesus not ruling already since 1914 (or around that year)? According to WT, He is ruling invisibly. So, there is no need to remember his death as he is alive and is now ruling for his people (again, according to WT). So, again, even according to their own doctrines, they should now partake or have a memorial at all.
Cor. 11:23 For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, 24and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, 'This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.' 25In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.' 26For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes." (1 Corinthians 11:23-26)
But hey, without the WT invented memorial season, what else do they have to feel important?

Vicarious Liability: Court of Appeal dismisses appeal from religious organisation following sexual assault

I read it and as I understand it, this seems like a big step forward. The WT is now considered liable for acts of their elders or ministerial servants as people in these roles behave and act as instructed by their organisation.
It will be very hard for the WT in future or other similar cases to claim that they are not responsible

I have heard it as well. Bit surprised it gets so much attention. What I find strange is:
- the caves were/are most difficult to get into. It is said, the caves were used by the people fleeing. Is this the most logical place to go to? And would you take scrolls?
- I saw a footages from people in the caves. How did the camera man/men get there?
- I have seen some so-called proof of the find. As the fragments in the US Bible Museum turned out to be fake, the photo share in the news do not say much. It is always covered with a lot of secrecy. I still do not understand why.
All in all, I am skeptical and have my doubts here. Also, why mentioning that name of God is in Hebrew very small fragments found. Why is such a comment relevant as part of the press release to the world?
And though we are only allowed to see vague pictures of the texts, why not show at least a copy of the so-called name in Hebrew? Have they already analyzed the fragments? if I am not wrong, it took many years to analyse the first discovered fragments 60 years ago. And now it seems they already know a lot in a short time. Peculiar.

Watchtower fined in Belgium
by Vanderhoven7 injehovah's witnesses in belgium have to pay €12k fine for shunning policy.
news.
you have probably heard of the trial going on in belgium about the shunning policy of jws.

Hi Vanderhoven7, you said "Could this be a dangerous precedent?" Why is this to be considered dangerous? Personally I am happy when a judge makes it clear that religious rules are not above the law. In a country there is one set of laws that apply to all people. In that same country, you have often multiple religious organizations with their own set of rules. If these rules are above the national laws, people have no option to appeal or challenge the rules.

Can a person resign from being one of Jehovah's Witness?

Just below this question about leaving, there is a question of shunning and it there it says:
Those who were baptized as Jehovah’s Witnesses but no longer preach to others, perhaps even drifting away from association with fellow believers, are not shunned. In fact, we reach out to them and try to rekindle their spiritual interest.
The NOT in Italic is not mine but from the article.

So, if the law requires people to vote, JW's are now allowed to vote? If the law prohibits preaching, JW's will obey and stop preaching?
Or only the WT headoffices chose what to obey and what not..... money rules.

True story or not, point remains: Why killing and driving out inhabitants of a piece of land just because you want your own people to live there.
It is like a blackmail approach: you either worship me or you will be killed.
If Satan was / is such a bad character, the worst of all, why not kill him in order to protect "your" people?

Jehovah Witness cult is Anti-christ.... proof seen in the use of BCE/CE instead of AD/BC
by goingthruthemotions inso being around this cult, i always found it interesting that the rest of christianity use ad/bc and the non christians use bce/ce.
i never put two and two together.
but, it dawned on me that once again there is hidden proof that the witness cult is and anti-christ cult.
