Yes, blinded followers may fall for the whole persecution bit, which is sad, and after talking with my in-laws they are fully inebriated on the wt Kool aid and eat up the sh*t they are fed no matter how bad the taste. Things I heard over and over include:

Perfect organization ran by imperfect men (that doesn't even make sense!!!)

Jehovah always cleans it up!

So what Web site did you get that from? (Always seeking a way to discredit)

You must have got that from an apostate! (How fun it was to show it in a wt pub! Ha ha!)

...(that would be the most common response, no words, eyes wide, speechless)

well, of course nothing else would be expected, but it passes me off.. for example, they show this short video that shows a child dying, shows her father crying as he visits her grave...and then she is reunited with her family in "the new system" and then it shows a handicapped girl who is sad she can't ice skate with friends...fast forward to tns, she can skate!!!

then an elderly couple is shown happily young again.... .

and of course the end is "so close!

Perhaps they will come up with a new way of counting time...like weeks of years. Maybe weeks of decades, or days of millenia or something.

They are not the only anti gay religion...my adult child was told she was going to hell by a protester at the pride parade over the weekend just for being there to support equality. Hateful people. Religion seems to breed some of the most evil, hateful people. Yet they love to cry out about being persecuted.

so one of my in-laws, a born in dub, started asking me questions about the issues i am having with the religion.

so i told her, rather carefully, how i discovered all the child pedophile cases, went over some of the case details, explained it is occurring all over the world, so isn't just some random misunderstanding, but is widespread hiding of child sex u all abuse.

So one of my in-laws, a born in dub, started asking me questions about the issues I am having with the religion. So I told her, rather carefully, how I discovered all the child pedophile cases, went over some of the case details, explained it is occurring all over the world, so isn't just some random misunderstanding, but is widespread hiding of child sex u all abuse. She was horrified. I then asked her some of my lingering questions no jw has been able to answer. She said "Good questions. I don't know." I then told her about the changes to the donation arrangement. She said "We don't do that." I said "you do now."

At the end of all this, she told me she will have to talk to the Elders in her cong because she is disturbed. She suggested I talk to the elders, I told her I was not comfortable doing that. She said she will be asking them these things.

So, what should I expect to happen here?

Yes, they really know what they are doing. I saw it on faces all around me. Also, just the use of the term "the truth" is manipulative. I cringe every time I hear it.
