@sparrowdown, according to the woman that told me, ( i just confirmed with her) they specifically mentioned molesting of children. Something to the speed of "Lately there have been priests molesting and raping children and now they are trying to attack the Jehovah's Witnesses..."

Child sex abuse cases mentioned at weekly meeting?
by HeyThere inokay, tonight someone told me that one of the elders actually addressed the child sex abuse cases at the weeknight meeting this past week.
she said the speaker said that accusations are being made against the truth but that they should stand firm in the truth and that they are going to continue fighting these allegations and that all should stand firm for jehovah or some similar comments.... did anyone else hear this from the stage?.

HeyThere
GC, no one here is saying they know what is being talked about...only speculating. We will have the real deal tomorrow. Until then, what's the harm in speculation? It's not like people here are running to the kh proclaiming they already know.

HeyThere
Bake sales tend to be for a specific purpose, such as to help fund a youth group missions trip for example. Gustv I find it interesting that you find asking for money doing an activity such as bake sales as pathetic, but you don't see going door to door passing out magazines as such?
To each his own. But really, there is no comparison. It is like apples and oranges. When these churches are raising funds, it is usually for a specific purpose. To help others in need. Perhaps a food bank for the poor. Or funding missionaries. The churches I have been to have been very transparent. Full financial made available to congregants. Unlike the watchtower.
As a youth, I participated in bake sales, dinners, car washes, etc. that went towards missionary trips. On these trips we helped rebuild schools in poor areas in different countries, or to support missionaries who were in a poor country building schools or medical clinics. All funds, and I mean ALL funds, went to help others. Not the church. Which is absolutely not even comparable to the greed of the watchtower.
The watchtower is a corrupt and manipulative organization that does no humanitarian efforts. It baffles me that people keep giving more to this beast.

by joe134cd ini was talking to an uber dub friend last night who lives in the san diego area.
he knew nothing of the $13.5 million dollar law suit.
when i tried to tell him that this is a systemic problem, and that this could perhaps be the tip of the ice burgh.

HeyThere
I sent my jw friend (met her at work like 13 years ago) a link to the news article. I have gotten no response from her. A few weeks ago I sent her a link from a different article just asking if she had seen the news, and she went on and on about knowing this is the true religion and satan and apostates use the info and it is persecution.

Service meeting week of November 3rd! How to indoctrinate children
by stuckinarut2 inoh yep...here we go..... this weeks service meeting has a part designed to show how children should be indoctrinated and manipulated into going "out in service".
the part first asks for the disturbingly corny cartoon clip to be played on the big screen at the halls: "lets go out in service!".
(if you haven't watched it yet, please go to jw.org and watch it....you simply won't beleive it until you see it!).

Oh good god my child is going to be miserable this week because no doubt my husband will be guilt tripping her. He recently agreed to only have her do fs 2xs a month. Shoot. This will be fun.

Name the GOOD things and NICE things about Jehovah's Witnesses
by stuckinarut2 inok, so in the interests of balance....(as it has rightly been pointed out that i am getting more bitter toward the org), can we think of any positive or nice things about jehovah's witnesses?.
just throwing this topic out there....... .

HeyThere
When I had surgery several months ago some families in the congregation brought dinner for a week. That was sweet.
I think overall witnesses are nice, and just think they are doing God's will. It's sad really.

HeyThere
The whole organization is a big lie, a fraud to me.
And I don't like liars.
From the secretive money trails, the manipulative publications, the protection of child molesters, and exploitation of congregation members this religion is just a big fraud IMHO. I would love to get my hands on their accounting and do a forensic investigation.
