So I got called on today...

poor sod.

i felt quite sorry for him in the end.. for context, i was brought up as a jw since i was very young.

i left 6 years ago (faded) a little before turning 30. i was on here a lot around that time but under a different profile that's no longer active.. for the past 18 months, i'm back living in the territory of the congregation i grew up in.

This Weekends SAD Not So Special

so after being at this weekend's snooze fest i thought the following pretty well summed it all up:.

if it feels good, looks good, sounds good, tastes good, smells good, or is even moderately enjoyable it is from satan!

and if you feel it, look at it, listen to it, taste it, smell it, or even remotely enjoy it you are going to die at armagedon.. if you are too busy, too stressed, or barely able to make financial ends meet, you must pray more, study more, go out door knocking more, and give more money to the organization.. if you are a brother and you have been snubbed, slighted, ignored, bullied, and otherwise passed over for any "advancement" in spite of "reaching out", it is your fault!

Ours was...pretty much the same. They actually talked about satan in the world and to avoid all apostates...basically everyone who is not a jw. Avoid any church, not even step a foot it a church and avoid churchly apostates, too. And, of course, specifically brought up avoiding the internet with any negative talk about jw...dont even go on to try and spread the truth! Avoid those apostates! Beware of independent thinking. The more you study the watchtower magazines the more you will understand how critical this is! Additionally, a DO something along the lines of just because there may be incorrect understanding of bible truth doesnt mean jw do not have the truth. That is no reason to loose faith! And then a grl got up to share her story, and was saying how blessed she is to have jehovahs family since she cant be around her own dad because he is an apostate, and that his disbelief in the truth felt like she was stabbed in the heart!!!

Then lunch. I had been sitting in the lunch room. My husband comes and asks if I heard the part about the apostates and the websites (we have been talking about things I have been learning about jws) I confirmed yes, I heard it. And also the independent thinking & shunning of the father part. A loving arrangement that it is.

And after lunch and the snooze fest they did the same number munching donation begging (we never ask for money! Its all voluntary!!) My husband asks if I wrote a check. I raised an eyebrow at him. He went and donated. Actual cash. I will do some jwfact stickers atthe DC. muh-ha-ha-ha there goes that independent thinking again!

i consider myself a christian.

seriously did not even think that jw was that much different...but now i know better and it has my mind spinning.

i have stopped answering questions, say my own prayers to god at the meetings, and plastr on a fake smile.

@sarahsmile, I don't think he shared it with her ina malicious way - and he doesn't typically shre our conversations with her. I think it was more along the lines of how excited they were for me to become an unbaptised publisher and then within weeks I was voicing my concerns to him about the religion. I was fine until the elders said somethign to me about counting all people who associated with a kh as witnesses to "make the numbers look better" and that people are only removed from the count if they send a letter of resignation - even young teens who may have attended 20 years ago with their parent are counted in the numbers unless they officially resign - this came from an elder. It make me wonder, okay, how many witnesses are there really? I started looking up stuff, found the Candice Conti case, found the other cases, found this website, found more stuff, and found I was over it. So he has been confused and worried, honestly. Because he is a full in, raised jw, engrained beliefs, that I now don't share and am speaking against even. I can understand where he is coming from and that is why I plan to fade slowly and not push it in his face...because it will not be easy for him.

so how are married fathers and mothers able to be anointedwhy xoes nobody question this?

now, i did see in this past weeks wt they mentioned "spiritual virgins" which is not in the bible...why do people believe this stuff they spew....it is so weird!

@stuckinarut - lmbo! Yes, it is not easy to follow, is it? Whatever fits the need at the time. Yeesh.

@sarahsmiles - I noticed at the last assembly that they said "you may now be seated brothers" and "the brothers welcome you into their congregations..." (said to the newly baptized) I was looking around for any other reactions and...none! I was tempted to partake but I figured my husband would freak out because he is soooo jw right now he would think I was mocking him or something.

@enlightenment123 - yes, I have the Revalation book and it is...something else. I have a very old version of it too. Makes it even better.

I am new and not a jw, but a recent unbaptized pub, only attending for about a year, my h was a born in dub who was inactive when we met and married. all of this is new to me....so maybe that is why...but I am so mind boggled at how this religio. wants to keep giving dates for the "end of this zyztem" and they never work out and people still believe! Tbey say crazy things, make up stuff, add their own spin to the bible and....millions of followers?!?!? This is so sad to me.

Anyhow, Revelations 14:4 says of the 144,000: These are the ones who did not defile themselves with women; in fact, they are virgins...

It specifically says did not defile woth women....so the bible is saying the 144,000 are virgin males. Or am I missing something?

the wts is begging poor relatives of mine for money, more money, and more money.

but, the wts has to be awash in money!.

1. does anyone know what the wts has sold?

This is a. amazing amount of money. I asked my husband about this and he said tbey are buying new locations to relocate so they arent making money off the sales because tbey had to purchase a place to go as well as building new kh around the world. but each kh pays for the cost of the kh build, correct? does anyone have any documemt that shows that arrangement?

GB approves entertainment auditioning for international delegates.

i don't know if this was mentioned but i spoke with a jw from atlanta, georgia that informed me that the great gb has approved jw auditions.. yes, you read that right!

now the jw's will have their own jw idol, jw voice, and dancing with jw stars, lol.. they are using an assembly hall in atlanta and jw's from all over are auditioning from 8am till 6pm.. supposedly the idea is to have live entertainment for the delegates traveling from overseas for the international conventions.. he said they have had jw's who can play all the hits from the beatles, play merengue, salsa, sing, dance, etc.. the gb is trying hard to make their cult look normal.. some of the questions this rises are,.

how would they audition for dancing virgins? would there be a virgin oversight committee?

i just read abut jws not being able to have their own blogs, sites, etc. only refer people to jw.org. so is this person an apostate or is the no blog thing case by case, overlapping rules so to speak?

I just spent some time reading the jw quotes site amd....wow, just wow. makes me want to run away as fast as i can, but for my h sake i will take a slow fade and start back at my old denomination.
