The Org is terrified of apostates
by SecretSlaveClass ini knew apostasy was a serious concern for the org, but until i watched this video, i had no idea how afraid they actually were.
all this guy wants is to do is not turn in his fs hours and immediately they (elders) set about drilling him about who are what influenced his decision, as if he was incapable of making his own (which as the elders confirm, in the org is highly discouraged).
they are convinced he has been communicating with apostates or visiting apostate web sites.

HeyThere
Wait....am I missing something? Simon your numbers are from nearly 10 years ago (2007) or am I not seeing that right? That's not current at all....and jw numbers are pretty stagnant...something just doesn't add up here. -

Leaving the org and marriage possibly ending
by atacrossroads ini was raised a witness, baptized at 16, vacation pioneered, got married, etc.
i was very much your typical witness and believed it was the truth until last summer.
a very close relative of mine left the witnesses.

HeyThere
Sending you hugs. I have experienced much of what you have, although I was never a baptism witness. My husband met and married when he was inactive. We've been together almost 15 years.
A couple years ago he went back in full on. I started going with him, and proceeded to unbaptized publisher. I always thought of jws as an eccentric brand of christian...I didn't know all the "rules" special so to speak.
There were many strange things that rubbed me wrong...such as the talk about worldly people, independent thinking, etc. The way they would "answer" questions s from a watcower by repeating the words in the paragraph and then everyone coming up to them telling them how wonderful the answer was...just weird, but nice people.
I was going to have major surgery last year, and I was nearly harassed by the whole blood thing. Major red flags. I actually assigned my sister to be my poa after that to ensure I would get blood if I needed it. Then I started doing research, tons of it, even buying old watchtower pubs and such. And I discovered Candice conti. And then the fact there are numerous child sex abuse cases and more.
I started to ask questions and my husband got pissed...just over questions!!! Also, the sister I was studying with disappeared after I asked about the blood policy. The elders talked to my husband about why I was asking questions. I was like wtf. Then my husband started getting upset when I hung out with my non jw friends...even going as far as telling me they weren't my friends.
He then threw away my CoC book saying that it would bring demons in the house. I put my foot down then and told him no more, I was done. No more meetings, studies, etc. He shunned me for weeks.
He them told me he had never thought he would marry a nonwitness, that he always pictured himself with a faithful witness woman, etc.
I finally asked him to move out. I was done. He did not want to leave, said he would not behave that way anymore, and now we just don't talk about it.
But I am left wondering if he just doesn't want a divorce due to his beliefs. I am not sure how long this marriage will last.
I am sorry this was so long-winded, I just wanted you to know that I do understand the type of crazy you are dealing with. Sending you hugs, hang in there and do what you need to do for your sanity.

How are Pro-JW sites handling the RC situation ???
by RubaDub insorry as this topic may have been covered many times but any thoughts or links to other topics on how the pro-jw websites are commenting on this.. rub a dub.
-
HeyThere
That well known pro dub site has some very concerned members who are not liking what they hear. There is talk of "weak ones" being stumbled and concern that GJ isn't going to testify...of course there are the supporters saying it's persecution but some have even challenged that stance. -

HeyThere
So this will be interesting....wonder what conversation good ol' Jackson is having right now. Can't wait to see what comes next! It's like waiting for the new season of your favorite show to start. -

Did you hear that!? His Honour is insisting that Jackson attend the Royal Commission
by umbertoecho ini actually started clapping at that point, as his honour explained to the wt type creep sycophantic slithery lawyer that........" i understand that we all have issues to face in life and .....that is a part of life...........however it has become obvious that this man ....is in such a position to assist with this investigation.....".
it boils down to the fact that stewart outright accused the latest witness of misleading the royal commission and this lead to some document searches which led his honour to conclude that they had been protecting mr jackson.
this was a warm and fluffy moment folks.................brilliant stuff!!!!!

HeyThere
This.is.awesome!!!!
These pedophile issues are one of the top issues I discovered that knocked me out of thinking jws were just a harmless eclectic, weird branch of Christianity.
I can't sleep, thinking about this. Members of my family were abused in this religion, and just thinking of the thousands of children whose lives were devastated by not just the abuse but the treatment of them...and their abuser...afterwards...it is so awful they have gotten away with their sneaky ish all these decades.
Go get 'em ARC!
can't wait to see how Jackson responds to this.

Day 4 Looks to Be Live at Any Moment - Link...and Upcoming Witness List!

anyone know who this monty baker is?
i'm sure this guy will be able to tell the rc how things work behind the scenes without all the evasiveness, being that he is an "apostate".
-
HeyThere
I have been nearly obsessed with this rc. They are doing such a good job getting to the truth of the matter. I hope that this results in changes across the board for mandatory reporting laws. Religion should not protect criminals.
The good Dr...she has been getting paid to help wtbts protect pedophiles and that is just effed up but at the end of the day it was likely just a paycheck for her and it is clear she had no true understanding of the size and scope of the problem. But what has worked in the past isn't working in this arena. She is getting schooled.
And Stewart and the judge are amazing. Go get 'em Australia!!!

Do you feel vindicated by the exposure of the WT Society in Australia? It seems like a feeding frenzy on here! I love it. You?
by Wasanelder Once inare you pleased with the exposure of the society in australia?
do you feel personally vindicated by it?
do you think it gives you credibility with others now that all the things you said were going on, actually are documented?
-
HeyThere
I do not feel vindicated. When I first discovered the various cases involving jw child sex abuse I was appalled. I am glad this problem the wtbts has tried so hard to hide is being exposed. So in a way I am relieved...awareness of a problem is so important. I am also concerned...because there are and will Continue to be many jws who ignore these things and keep their heads happily burried...those who still think the kingdom hall, and the congregation members, are safe...those who will Continue to believe all negative reports are "apostate driven lies" and avoid the truth. Then I am sad for those whose world's will be turned upside down at the realization that this religion is absolutely not directed or chosen by God, those who realize their life was dedicated to a lie...and that's not an easy place to be.
I hope many jws will pay attention, will see and acknowledge the very serious problems here, realize that all molesters are not disfellowshipped as they have been told, but may actually still be an active elder or even higher up the chain.
I am also saddened because of the numbers. What has been reported is just from Australia, which has a very low witness population. So how many pedos are active in the congregations worldwide? It is mind boggling to me.

How much damage has internet done against the The Watchtower Society ?
by opusdei1972 inin the beginning of internet the society was worried about the information published exposing its falsehood.
so, i wonder how many people lost the society on account of forums and web sites like this.
.
-
HeyThere
There is a reason why there are so many talks discouraging the internet and independent thinking...if the actives actually researched the religion on the internet and thought "independently" there would be many more leaving. -
