So ... situation:
A baptized married couple, with no privileges that we know of, have opened their home to 2 unmarried regular pioneers because of the pioneers' financial issues (limited income).
- Husband works from home
- Wife doesn't work and stays home or in service
- One pioneer is a woman, the other is a man - both single
- Pioneers are around their early 20s. One has full-time job AND pioneers (not sure what the financial issue is). The other is on disability, but we think his family kept taking his monthly income without his approval, so he needed to move out.
- Couple have no children and 5 bedrooms in their house, so it kind of makes sense they're helping.
The wife and I were talking and found out that this situation existed for about 1-2 months ... THEN, the elders met with the pioneers (not the couple) and told them to leave the house or they would no longer be pioneers. No reason given but Hebrews 13:17 read about obeying the elders.
She got pretty heated up about it ... apparently there's a "special pioneer" in the cong that doesn't like the married couple and starting spreading rumors ... then the elders got involved ... and it went from there.
Have the question in my head ... is there anything in the elder manual or anywhere else that says we can't show love to those in need?? So stupid!

CO position going away
by OwnAccord inso i heard this on another site just throwing it out there because there's been talk about it here.
i'm sorry i can't answer any questions i'm just relaying the information.. the branch is considering replacing all circuit overseers with 3 brothers per circuit to oversee needs.
24 congregations per circuit with 1 brother each assigned to 8 congregations each on a yearly rotation.

The last year of the current CO cycle is the 2014-2015 service year. So, September 2015 is when this would start - if they wanted to align it with the current rotation cycle.

Another Higher Education Faux Pas

At a recent Special Assembly Day in Casa Grande, there was a talk about youths and the choices in life that are set before them.
During the talk, there was an interview of three people - two young girls (ages 13-16?) and an older brother (age 969?). The point of interviewing the sisters was for everyone to know their goals now & right after high school -- baptism, then pioneering, then perhaps Bethel service.
Though there was no direct mention of their decision to avoid college, it's interesting to note that the older brother that was interviewed is a structural engineer, no doubt requiring some college. Add to that, he was raised as a JW - both parents were Witnesses.

Yes.
At the Detroit convention last weekend (6/6 - 6/8), GB member Losch said that the phrase "Millions Now Living Will Never Die" actually meant/included the general world population - not just JWs.
He said it almost as an afterthought to his regular talk.
But that gives me the impression they're in tune with what's being written here and other places.
