LONDON Kingdom Hall for sale - well, kinda!

Hey St George of England!
An elder told me a couple of years ago that the Society was buying up plots of land that "may" be suitable for a KH and "may" get planning permission. He said that as the Society were cash buyers with ready funds they were able to negotiate some very good deals. If it turned out that a KH was not needed or they could not get the requisite planning permission they could always sell the plots at a good profit.
The only problem though is, as I understand it, the Society is a charity and therefore can not legally financially speculate with charitible funds - and take risks unwarranted risks buying land that maybe usuable by the charity.

How to buy or rent charity land and property
+ the property is suitable for your needsvis-vis without permission to use land/property as a KH, it would not be suitable.
The property in question here was clearly bought for use as a double KH - even if WT can sell it for a profit (and don't forget the expenses involved in buying and selling property: legal costs etc plus costs to get permission to use, which also doesn't seem to have been straightforward - WT were having to go to an appeal as they were initially refused permission to use it as a KH!

NOW, they're not even waiting to convert into a Kingdom Hall before they're being sold!Yeap, you heard right!!!

Apparently "this prominent, modern building is now surplus to the requirements of the Jehovah Witnesses, who had intended to operate a Kingdom Hall from the premises."

It seems - from the Local Council change of use that the Bermondsey congregation was being used as the 'lead' congregation - they currently meet at the multi-auditorium KH at: 200 New Cross Road, New Cross Gate, London SE14 5PG - Google Streetview
Oh, and by the way, is seem that that realtor - Acorn Commerical - has been selling a few KH's.....

Oh dear!
Well so far - apart from the TV broadcast - it's also been viewed nearly 11,500 times on youtube in just the last five days (despite regional restrictions on viewing it??)
That compares to that Canadian French TV thing that has been translated into English and has been watched on youtube some 5,100 times (2,400 times in English and 2,700 in French) with no apparent regional restrictions on watching it. I'm jus' sayin' - 'cause it ain't a competition or anything

Firstly, it seems that sp74bb's subtext was to show up the French for being somewhat 'tight' with money....
But, then secondly
DesirousOfChange: That's the first thing I noticed as well!! A 30% drop in donations! WOW! No wonder they begging and groveling for kids' ice cream money!
A surprise? Hmmm, I explained how the WT are actually very effectively disincentivizing donations in a post I made around two months ago
