Wild_Thing: what is the basis for your assumption that her quotes are from 2002?
Because Hisclarkness can read?
The link in the OP that references the quote/s goes to this page:

The date at the top of that interview very very clearly says "July 6, 2002".
okay i've been reading this one lately and so far it's even funnier to me than kyria's book, maybe because it comes from the male viewpoint.
this book is not to be missed!
buy it now.
JimmyPage: Okay, finished reading it. Would make a great movie
it has been sickening to read the most recently leaked documents by faithleaks.
it makes me so angry because so many of us have experienced first hand the horrible policies of the watchtower on abuse.
i feel like these documents are finally the smoking gun we have all been hoping to expose the watchtower, and so far, the only mainstream news that i have seen pick it up is newsweek.. what will it take for the mainstream media pick this up and give it the attention it deserves?
jwundubbed: Any statistics not provided by the JW is helpful
You mean non-Catholics turn up at Catholic churchs and count the attendance??
I'd presume even many of the apparently 'independent' statistics have their roots in the Catholics own provided numbers.
I understood that Pew Research is independent, and they've covered the JWs fairly comprehensively in a number of breakdowns including by age, ethnicity, education, family income etc etc
But the problem is how members are counted - is it purely by turning up for a service? or just saying they believe in it?

jwundubbed: Unable to find statistics on the JW religion that don't come from the JW.
Does this count??

JeffT: The question reporters ask is not "is this an important story?" It's "will this story attract viewers/readers?" In the case of JW's the answers to those questions are "maybe" and "not many."
That's why people have to follow the links to those stories and articles!
I posted a link to the Newsweek article on reddit which has got 2,300 views (as I posted the thread, I can see the number) - many more people will have followed the link to Newsweek from other places too - and it all adds up.
Then there's the example of these two 'end-of-year' popular articles:
this is the circuit assembly hall i attended since childhood.
if you're a jw and you grew up in liverpool, lancashire or manchester then this is the hall you attended.
when i was little i remember the decor inside being red and cream coloured.
Here's a youtube video slideshow about the Manchester Assembly Hall
well, here we go.
hang on & grab some popcorn:.
