congregations being dispanded and kingdom halls closing down and being sold off.... official announcements within the next month apparently .
does anyone else have anymore info?.

JW TV Monthly Broadcast - 3rd unofficial Meeting!
by Da.Furious indid any one notice that the monthly broadcast on jw tv is being treated like a meeting similar to the old book study arrangement?.
at our kh, in uk, all congregations meeting at the hall have a monthly arrangement for this.
some have a group arrangement and alternate between family homes to watch the broadcast and some use the kh on weekends.. this arrangement in our congregation, at least, is being treated as a meeting for each of the groups.

But isn't it really then just a case of damned if they don't, and damned if they do?
If no arrangements were/are being made, people would complain that those without computers/smart phones/internet access would not be able to watch the videos.
If arrangements are being made, such as you describe, people would complain that it's like an additional meeting.

You need to remember that people often enjoy the shared experience of watching a video/DVD together with others - AKA 'Movie Night' with friends and popcorn. Which means that, even if you had the facilities to watch the JW videos by yourself in a darkened room - as a 'Billy-no-mates' - most people would probably enjoy the communal aspect of watching it together especially when combined with (extended?) social interaction both before and afterwards, particularly if, as you say, refreshments and drinks are provided.
BUT, and it's a big but... if the above semi-social gathering was going on in your congregation, as you say it is, and you were NOT being invited, you'd probably be complaining that you weren't being invited

Er, its kinda explained fully in the BoE Letter November 7, 2014 "Re: Arrangements to view JW Broadcasting monthly programs."
So are congregations/KHs ACTUALLY doing this? Oh yeah, Da Furious' is! Haha! Anyone else?
What is interesting is that although congregations who meet at the same KH could have a combined arrangement, evidently, in the case of Da Furious, they aren't - hmmm maybe that's actually the most 'revealing' thing about this? Do the congregations get on together? Would you want to combine with Da Furious?...

Date of the memorial please.
by Xanthippe inmy non-jw cousin says my sister and her husband are visiting her more often.
my sister even put her arms around her the other day and said she loved her.
i would like to think it's because my cousin lost her husband last march and her daughter has terminal cancer but i think they might be love bombing and working up to a memorial invitation.

It is referencing "The Gift Aid Small Donations Scheme" which is a relatively new scheme introduced under the umbrella of the 'traditional' Gift Aid scheme

Youths planning for the future leaflet
by slimboyfat indoes anyone remember around the tear 2000, maybe just before or after, there was a leaflet released at the summer convention aimed at teenagers called something like, "planning for a worthwhile future"?
basically it argued that you shouldn't go to college or university and put your trust in "the world".
instead you should trust in jehovah, pioneer and reach out for bethel or missionary service.

I recall one "questions from readers" about using the tetragrammaton as stickers on cars or on jewellery and this got a big No No from tWhat is the reference for this please? TIA!
BTW, the quote that Watchtower-Free references in the graphic says in full and in context the following:

Question Box: Is it fitting to display the Hebrew or English letters of the Tetragrammaton on automobiles, jewelry and other items?
This is a matter that should rightly be left for each Witness to decide, based on the dictates of his own conscience.
Nevertheless, circumstances vary, and what may be appropriate in one locality may not be fitting in another area. For example, where there is considerable prejudice against Jews, displaying the Tetragrammaton in Hebrew letters could give rise to needless problems due to mistaken identity. And some Jews themselves find the public display the Tetragrammaton objectionable. Also, in some areas there are other reasons why such a practice might be viewed as strange and so create misunderstandings.
On the other hand, some have found that displaying the Tetragrammaton either in English or Hebrew letters has aroused curiosity and given openings for informal witnessing. Then, too, it has served as a means of identifying other Witnesses when traveling.
If a person should decide to display the Tetragrammaton on his car, he should also appreciate the responsibility of not misrepresenting it by disregard for Caesar’s laws or by careless and inconsiderate driving.
As Jehovah’s servants we are responsible to uphold the dignity of his name. This is done primarily by preaching and by setting a good example in Christian living. Should the public display of the Tetragrammaton detract from that, it would obviously not be fitting. Furthermore, we do not want to give others the impression that the Tetragrammaton is the symbol of Jehovah’s witnesses as a whole. We have no organizational symbol to identify ourselves but show that we are Jehovah’s Christian witnesses by living in harmony with God’s will.—John 13:35.That's all folks!
