Your opinion about dating sites?
by nevaagain ini have been a jw all my life, while i also have a "spiritual divorce", which means i can remarry a jw again.
i am not sure if i want to go that route again and dating in the jw world feels like a struggle sometimes.
with all the rules.

A Question
by FedUpJW ini would appreciate knowing from someone in the know if the goofy carts and rain covers are given to the congregation by the org.
or if the congregation has to pay the org for them.
i am sure i read that somewhere here in my lurking days, but am not finding it at present.. if the congregation is billed for it i intend to use that as a reason for my continued refusal to donate anything from now on.. thanks in advance..

Of course they will never budge a finger to actually do any real ministry.
Interesting view - most here, and I stand to be corrected, do not believe the trolley work counts as 'real ministry' - just standing their, 10 feet away, not approaching people - but you obviously disagree with that.
Anyway, the two of them ain't being used think how much money your congregation is saving not having to buy all the posters each month!! Maybe you should suggest that your congregation gets another pair and saves more money not buying the posters each month!!!
But poor SO, that's bad, surprised the CO hasn't done anything about it yet?

Hey neat blue dog
I think it's more along of the lines of when publishers ask how much they are etc
the answer is that the cost is covered by their donations to the worldwide work (rather than a donation to local congregation)
I would have thought even a brief congregation announcement could be in order, if it was felt to be needed.
this would be in contrast to the costs for the printed posters for which publishers may contribute to the local congregation (and not the worldwide work)
And in real life, I think more people ask about who pays for the actual printed posters rather than the cart....

Yes there are fixed costs for everything (somebody's gotta pay for it, right?) The Lit-carts ® cost $40 a piece and you are required to buy them in pairs for $80. There is also a catalog of all kinds of accessories, which may include covers, etc. Not sure about pricing.
Except now they're provided at no direct charge (see earlier in this thread for post and link to the BoE Letter)
And, anyway just three months at $15-a-month poster is more than the capital costs, as per my earlier post in this thread.

I think a better reason to not donate is that the GB members fly first class on planes (with their wives) at $4,500 a ticket!!https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/5722816267681792/branch-visit-yesterday?page=2

Take it for what it is (unsubstantiated), but it's my understanding from more than one senior Bethel contact that it's the GB's standard policy to only ever fly Coach/Economy, even to the point of refusing frequent flyer upgrades, lest some lowly J-dub see them comfortably tucked into First as they slog their way back to the cheap seats.ah so that's what they call 'an inconvenient truth'

BoE Letter July 15, 2014 - Witnessing in public places (note last sentence in para 6)
6. Requesting public witnessing equipment: The Congregation Service Committee will determine the equipment to be requested and where it will be stored. Public witnessing equipment can be requested in the same way publications are requested. We are pleased to provide a document entitled Public Witnessing Supplies (S-80) that contains sample pictures and descriptions of standard carts, stands, tables, and kiosks. The equipment will remain the property of the congregation. Care should be taken to request only equipment that will be put to good use by publishers who have been trained in its use. The congregation may be informed that the cost of these carts will be covered by their contributions to the worldwide work. So, no direct cost, nor any suggested cost provided
