Hi cantleave!
£550,000K should pay a few legal bills. TBH that seems quite steep for a commercial property even in the middle of Brighton.
It seems that the suggestion is to convert it into residential, which probably makes sense.
anyone know when this sell off of the brighton and hove kh was put on the market and where will the cong go to?.

Hi nugget!
I used to attend Portslade congregation when they had the hall next to the railway bridge. At the time the congregation seemed pretty active how things change.
Maybe you where the heart and soul of the congregation?
anyone know when this sell off of the brighton and hove kh was put on the market and where will the cong go to?.
Hi konceptual99!
One of the problems they had was that Hove congregation was pretty small and getting smaller. Disbanding two congregations and merging them in with Hove and another one (can't remember which this was) not only boosted the size of Hove but also allowed them to free up some property in a prime area of Brighton.
That would seem sensible - the two exisitng halls being used are only five miles apart anyway, and the third (old) hall is directly in the middle.

The Reynolds Road hall, while being further West is still pretty well located for central Brighton including for buses etc - I believe it was rebuilt in the early 2000.
august 12, 2016 to all bodies of elders in the united states branch territory re: obtaining video equipment for displaying spiritual programs.
spiritual_programs_video_equipment_kits-e.
Hi dozy!
It all seems a bit odd - the congregations are told to basically remit all their donated funds to the Society other than essential minor "day to day expenses" yet they are expected to stump up additional money to pay for all of this video equipment.
No, it's more complicated than that - and the letter is not particularly well wriiten IMHO - hence the postings above
I gather from the letter that the equipment is being provided at 'no direct cost' but rather by 'indirect cost' via the congregation's pre-existing monthly resolution to the world wide work, which WT would hope could be increased a bit if the congregation benefits from the WT supplying the latest equipment - hence:
All previously supplied and any future video equipment obtained is covered from contributions toward Kingdom Hall and Assembly Hall construction worldwide. Therefore, some bodies of elders have updated their monthly resolution for Kingdom Hall and Assembly Hall construction worldwide as an expression of their appreciation.
Obviously they don't want every Kingdom Hall to start ordering brand new equipment, hence congregation's can't just order the stuff, but need some authorization
in requesting approval from the Local Design/Construction Department (LDC).
If the Kingdom Hall wishes to obtain equipment themselves outside this arrangement, they still need authorization (presumably to stop congregations just ordering new TVs when they want) - but because this needs to be paid for directly, a resolution would then be required.
If the bodies of elders receive approval from the LDC to purchase video equipment directly from a supplier, a resolution to pay for the cost of the equipment using congregation funds should be passed by all congregations using the Kingdom Hall.
I suspect that having the LDC in overall charge would enable them organize some kind of re-use of older equipement (ie smaller TVs?) in either smaller halls, or in classrooms, where previously there wasn't a TV.
That's happened before with chairs hasn't it? A kingdom hall has had new chairs, and the older chairs have been reused by another hall?
i just wanted to know, when do the jws begin to study the 2014 publication called: "god's kingdom rule" at the local kingdom halls?
(i heard it was going to be sometime in the month of september of 2016, this month.).

There has been some re-jigging in the Brighton area over the last few years, it seems that:

The five congregations in Brighton and Hove, on the south coast of England, meet in two Kingdom Halls, one on the west side, and the other on the north east side of the town centre.
https://goo.gl/maps/4gZy6ecGRbF2
Kingdom Hall, 37 Reynolds Road, HOVE BN3 5RJ
Brighton West: Thursday 7.20pm and Sunday 10.00am
Kingdom Hall, 180 Warren Road, Woodingdean, BRIGHTON BN2 6DD
Brighton Woodingdean: Thursday, 7.15pm and Sunday 4.00pm
The disused Kingdom Hall which is currently for sale is located between the two above Halls and closer to the town centre on the corner of York Avenue and Windlesham Avenue.
meet the gay hume city council candidate who quit the jehovah’s witness community.
australia victoria's hume city council candidate phillip di biase, 19, grew up in a “highly controlled” jehovah’s witness community, but turned his back on the religion after he came out at 16. now his life is devoted to helping homeless youths.. http://www.starobserver.com.au/news/national-news/victoria-news/meet-gay-hume-city-council-candidate-quit-jehovahs-witness-community/152367.

Hi steve2!
Don't quite know what to make of your comment asking whether he is on grindr, but would you make such a comment if he were straight? Probably not.
Would the newspaper headline have said: "Meet the str8 Hume City Council candidate who quit the Jehovah’s Witness community"? Probably not.
But seriously, it was a light-hearted comment - it's in a LGBTI publication, the third word in the headline is 'gay' and part of the story is specifically regarding his being gay.
I wish him well, his twitter count may be low now, but he's got seven weeks to campaign.....
I linked to the election results from last time to show that actually 4,000 is doable - and acually it's done through proportional representation too, so the second and third etc preference votes are important, and it seems that the number of council members returned in the ward increased from 2 to 3 at the last election. The downside is that all three current members are 'long-term' nominees, so depends if all three are standing again - nominations close on 20 September....

Hi steve2
All power to this inspiring young man!
Er yeah, but is he on grindr?
Also, he only has 11 followers so far on twitter :(
These were the results from the last 2012 elections:

Looks like he's gonna need about 4,000 votes out of an electorate of around 32,000
Hi polish clarinet!
I have been marked for marrying a non-believer (catholic), had a beautiful discourse.
Yes, that would have been a marking talk
The following week-end, some proclaimers refused to go with me in the field. So the elder told to the 15 proclaimers of the group : I think it would be better brother Polish Clarinet went from door to door alone!
Oh dear, as the QfR above states it's the withdrawal from social interaction - still, if you'd been regular in field, I'd have thought they'd have pre-arranged somebody to work with you, at least on the first weekend.
