i think three congs share that building now.. nice wee scoop up of the cash from the sale of livingston and whitburn.

Cool - so Livingston Deans would have been the 'holding' congregation that lead the project, which explains the 2014 income from the suggested per-publisher donations, though it is interesting that the income in 2012 and 2013 was also substantial.
Presumably the 2016 accounts, when submitted, will show the expenses for actually building the complex.
Dedridge and Whitburn's income and expenses can probably be explained by local fund-raising for new KH, with monies sent over to central fund held by the Deans Congregation.
It makes sense for Scotland to have a relatively centrally located multi-auditorium kingdom hall that can hold small assemblies - the documentation mentions a maximum expected attendance for assemblies here being 800 people - and as they're all one-day assemblies now they can be held on a Saturday and not interfere with the local congregation meetings on a Sunday.

Hey scratchme1010
What am I missing here? Why it's such a big deal when they build a new KH or sell an old one?
Looking at the bar charts, even allowing for one of the congregations doing the operating expenses, the income/expenses for the three congregtions are fascinatingly contrasting in a multi-million pound way....

Nice wee scoop up of the cash from the sale of Livingston and Whitburn. Having said that, these aren't desirable areas and they'll not sell for very much money. Also, they've probably spent a great deal on the new assembly hall. One wonders how that cash was raised.

Yes, a new Kingdom Hall was recently built on a green field site now called 'Eliburn Campus' in Livingstone, to the west of Edinburgh (it's not showing up yet on Google Earth or StreetView)

1) when a newly built k.h.
is dedicated, the sheep are told that the building "will be a great witness for jehovah.
the opposite must now be true - when they get rid of it to accumulate cash, they must now be "un-witnessing for jehovah.".

Hey blondie!
Not needed, congregation max will be 150 where possible, and 3 or more congregations in each KH. Makes sense, even with extra wear, theoretically the donations will be more consolidated. Have to drive farther, too bad, many bethelites drive 30 to 50 miles to their congregations near Wallkill and Patterson.
Hmmmm, a bit of strawman reasoning there I think....
Yes, traditionally two congregations using a Kingdom Hall was thought of as 'ideal' use - you had the Tuesday / Thursday evening meetings then on Sunday you had a morning and an afternoon, with a Sunday rotation every couple of years and now WT wants more congregations using each KH.
But comparing the US to the UK??... there are THREE very big differences:
Firstly, in real terms, there are 43% LESS JWs in Britain than the US when compared to population - this means that a US town of 40,000 will have a congregation of 150, but in Britain the congregation would only have 87 publishers.
Secondly, as a whole, the UK is 800% more densely populated than the US - even the whole of England EXCLUDING London, is more densely populated than the WHOLE of the US (including New York State, but excluding New Jersey and Rhode Island) - but this means that people in the UK are MUCH LESS willing to travel.
Thirdly, in the UK gas costs 245% MORE than in the US (East Coast) - so ANY 'extra' car travel is much more expensive
JW numbers from Yearbook:
US publisher ratio is 1-in-261
Britain publisher ratio is 1-in-457
