YVONNE, the mother of Chris on Bride and Prejudice, has for the first time explained why she couldn't attend her gay son's wedding.
It comes as her son claimed how "near daily conditioning" by Jehovah's Witnesses drove his mother to "overwrite her own maternal instincts to support her faith".
In a letter to the Daily, Chris responded to Jehovah's Witness spokesman Rodney Spinks' comments that his mum was not speaking on behalf of the organisation.

this can only be a good sign.. my old congregation in liverpool has had a lot of money in it's bank account for years.
for a long, long time (almost 8 years) they've been looking for land to build a new hall.
the one they're in now is literally falling to bits.

Thousands of sexual assaults in Jehovah's Witnesses
Investigations and trials in several countries show a parallel world in which loyalty to the faith community counts more than the welfare of the children.
The Christian-fundamentalist religious community of the Jehovah's Witnesses, also known as the Wachtturm Society, makes headlines all over the world because it has concealed the sexual abuse of minors for decades. Processes in many countries document the large extent of the attacks of some of the high-ranking witnesses.
However, the authorities of most countries do not dare to shed light on the dark chapter of the religious community that has built up a parallel world. In Great Britain, however, two state commissions investigate sexual assaults with Jehovah's Witnesses. In several processes, believers must be held responsible for such acts.

Minor, Jehovah's Witness, beaten by several policemen in Morón, complains his father
Luis Lemagne Millán, 15, was beaten at a police station in Morón and transferred to a Provincial Detention Center in Ciego de Avila. Parents are unaware of the reasons for the arrest.
A minor has been detained since February 28 at the Provincial Unit for the Detention of Minors in Ciego de Avila, although he is not accused of any charges, according to his father in an interview with Radio Martí.
...The minor was assaulted at the police station and then taken to the hospital where he received medical attention. From there he was transferred to the juvenile section of the Detention Center in the city of Ciego de Ávila, contiguous to the Provincial Delegation of the Ministry of the Interior.
"We went to warn the house at 2:00 am but we could not see it until 10:00 am in the hospital. That's where we could do the photos of the blows in the face," said Luis, who believes that the cruelty against the son occurs because the family is Jehovah's Witness and the black race.

the page on SMH has now been DELETED and does NOT work! The SMH article has been MOVED to a new location on their website and therefore needs a NEW link - which I noted has handily been added to the bottom of the link that thankfully Barbara provided in her OP above.
I understood that jwleaks was trying to do a "List all media reports here for future reference" - that's a problem when certain news organisations, such as the SMH, decide to DELETE online news articles after they have been published and MOVE them to NEW location on their website WITHOUT doing a 301 - but as you say: ' I know that tech is hard.'
