Hey stranger, where have you been?
someone mentioned "jehovahs chariot is on the move" on another topic and i immediately had flashbacks to those articles where they tried to explain how a chariot could have wheels that went in every direction and also had eyes, something idiotic.. i had a chuckle because the image that then popped into my head when i thought about those wheels going every direction was not one of those clever honda devices with the clever wheel thingy - no, it was a supermarket trolley.
you know the ones where one or two of the wheels wobbly and have a mind of their own and typically want to veer off suddenly into an elaborate display of tinned food?.
that is jehovahs chariot as driven by the governing body.
One minute the internet is evil and the next it's the best thing ever and everyone should use an iPad for everything.
This week's demonstration.

He then organizes his service bag and makes sure that his electronic device is ready to play.
I'm reflecting on the old phonograph witnessing, and that the higher-ups in WTS are thinking, "Hey it worked in the past - let's do it with tablets."
The differences are:
- portable phonographs were unique and fairly novel,
- most of the population in the past was unsophisticated, and unable to research compared to what is readily available today.
Given the comments in the number baptized thread, I cannot imagine this tablet witnessing having any impact whatsoever in western lands.
Is there anyone still in that is using a tablet (Go Moses!) door-to-door?
If so, what is the response compared to pushing magazines?
i've been reading you for several months now and at last i decided to register !
i'm not sure if my post is in the good category so feel free to move it if it is not.... i'm french and i da'd in last november, losing my family by the way... i'm married and my wife is still in but our couple is still strong.. i still believe in the bible and i go from time to time in a baptist church.. i created a french website to expose the watchtower and its false teachings.

rome (ap) pope francis' point man on clerical sex abuse said monday the failure of the catholic church to punish bishops who covered up for pedophiles had seriously harmed its credibility and that it must now lead the way by "humbly making the commitment to accountability, transparency and zero tolerance.
"cardinal sean o'malley, archbishop of boston, said canon lawyers and theologians were reviewing proposals to present to the pope on holding bishops and religious superiors accountable.
the proposals were developed by francis' commission of experts, which o'malley chairs and includes two survivors of abuse.. ....
Could be - I am hardly a Catholic apologist.
However, their point man says that they have failed.
The Mormons have opened up about some of their mistakes.
WTS response - "screw off!" We've supplanted Jesus - Who are you to dare to even question anything that we have said or done?
"We are unaccountable and infallible."
"If it seems that we have been wrong in some way in the past, it is Jehovah's will, as a test."
was reading a poster's experience with custody, and the info in wts child custody packet.. children are prepped to present themselves as normal, with school friendships, hobbies, activities, etc.
and not to mention that their life-goal is to pioneer.. the school brochure (1983) contains this gem:.
"they [witness families] also travel several times each year to attend larger gatherings called circuit assemblies and district conventions.
12. Since many of us include attending the assembly during our vacation period.
This could probably use a new thread, but I may as well add that, Yes, attending the assembly was "included" during our vacation period.
In fact, I told one employer that I was quitting just before the business' absolute busiest time of year - and so, the owner paid my plane tickets to attend the convention, and I quit after the busy period.
One year later, as per WTS instructions of Putting Kingdom Interests first, I did quit the next job, as the employer would not accommodate my demand for a premium week of vacation to attend the convention in another city.
No, not a cult, not at all.

You go back to the motel, and sleep (if you are lucky, you might watch a little TV or have a radio on).
Sorry, no - you are supposed to be reviewing the program with your family.

The School brochure (1983) contains this gem:
"They [Witness families] also travel several times each year to attend larger gatherings called circuit assemblies and district conventions. These trips sometimes provide opportunities to visit museums, historic sites and other places of cultural interest."
Yesterday, stumbled upon this contradictory gem:
May 1979 KM, Page 4.
"12 Since many of us include attending the assembly during our vacation period, we should be careful that the convention spirit does not become a vacation spirit. Otherwise, this may cause the importance of the convention to fade in the minds of ourselves or of our children. Should this be allowed to happen, it would interfere with our joy in assembling as Jehovah’s people, due to the fact that our minds would be preoccupied with having a good time in a fleshly way rather than with the good spiritual things that Jehovah is providing.—2 Tim. 3:4, 5."
The same KM states:
"11 Sometimes negative comments about conduct at assemblies have to do with young ones. Since we live in a corrupt and permissive society, great effort is required to shape youthful personalities in harmony with Jehovah’s will."
Our family had ONE family vacation - PERIOD - during my childhood.
The rest of our vacation periods were spent driving long journeys to some city for way-too-long conventions. At those cities, we never saw a thing, other than the convention site, as per WTS REAL teaching. (There's no better way to wake up from drifting off to sleep in the hot sun, then having your dad sitting behind you with a very solid crokinole flick to the ear.)
thou shalt not stay at a hotel that is not on the rooming list.
work prevented me from attending our assigned district (regional) convention so i arranged my schedule to attend in a different city/weekend.
i know that's not a problem, brothers and sisters do it all the time.
thou shalt not stay at a hotel that is not on the rooming list.

Kingdom Ministry - Jan 1998 Page 5, Pars 12 and 11
12 Demonstrates obedience to the Society’s directions: This point should be one of our main concerns
11. When hotels cooperate with the Society’s arrangement, room rates are lower for our brothers. Instead of our resources going to the hotels, they can be put to better use supporting the families of our brothers and sisters and the worldwide work.
simons critcal fact = defendants assigned candace to perform field service with kendrick.
martinez testified that she saw candace and kendrick in field service together.
was candace ever assigned to anyone else?
Sorry.
When I conducted the Field Service group, I arranged / rearranged the group as I saw fit. I remember the dismay of 2 "seniority" sisters when I assigned them how I wanted, when they had previously made plans to work together.
Too bad, I'm the authorized talking penis - do what I want.
